Prussian white (PW) is considered as a promising cathode material for potassium-ion batteries (KIBs) due to its low cost and high theoretical capacity. However, the high water content and structural defects and the strict synthesis conditions of PW lead to its unsatisfactory cycling performance and low specific capacity, hindering its practical applications. Herein, a template-engaged reduction method is proposed, using MIL-88B(Fe) as a self-template and KI as the reducing agent to prepare K-rich PW with low defects and water content. Furthermore, the hierarchical porous spindle-like morphology can be inherited from the precursor, furnishing sufficient active sites and reducing the ion diffusion path. Consequently, when applied as a KIB cathode material, spindle-like PW (KFe[Fe(CN)]·0.342HO) manifested remarkable potassium storage properties. Notably, a full cell assembled by the spindle-like PW cathode and graphite anode exhibited a large energy density of ∼216.7 Wh kg, demonstrating its huge potential for energy storage systems.

Sodium manganese hexacyanoferrate, also called Prussian white (PW), has attracted much attention as a promising cathode material for Na-ion batteries due to its high-voltage platform and inexpensive elemental composition. However, their parasitic vacancies and water molecules often deteriorate the electrochemical performance. Proper regulation of such defects in scale-up preparation is still a challenge.

Background: In the process of food production, ciprofloxacin (CIP), a highly prescribed fluoroquinolone antibiotic, is often excessively used to reduce the risk of bacterial infection. However, this overuse can cause severe harm to human health, including allergic responses, gastrointestinal complications, and potential renal dysfunction. The development of a robust and precise detection method for CIP is crucial, given the interconnection between food security and human health.

Article Synopsis
  • Current anti-obesity medications have limited effectiveness and side effects because they target the brain or digestive system, rather than directly addressing fat tissue.
  • This research presents a new therapy using Prussian blue nanoparticles applied through a skin patch that actively remodels white fat tissue, promoting weight loss and improved metabolism.
  • In tests on fat cells and obese mice, this therapy significantly reduced fat mass and improved metabolic health while showing promising safety outcomes, offering a potential new approach to treat obesity and related conditions like type 2 diabetes.

Prussian white (PW) is considered a promising cathode material for sodium-ion batteries. However, challenges, such as lattice defects and poor conductivity limit its application. Herein, the composite materials of manganese-iron based Prussian white and reduced graphene oxide (PW/rGO) were synthesized via a one-step in situ synthesis method with sodium citrate, which was employed both as a chelating agent to control the reaction rate during the coprecipitation process of PW synthesis and as a reducing agent for GO.
