The bronchopleural fistula (BPF) is a pathological passageway between the bronchus and the pleural cavity. Diagnosing and localising BPF can be challenging, and the traditional retrograde methylene blue (MB) perfusion method may fail to identify multifocal BPFs. This article reports a novel method for locating multifocal BPFs in patients undergoing concurrent empyema debridement.

Introduction: Malignant pleural effusion (MPE) is associated with poor quality of life and mortality in patients with tumors. In clinical practice, we observed that patients with malignant pleural effusion (MPE) and concurrent heart disease exhibited a decrease in MPE volumes following treatment with β-receptor blockers for heart disease. Immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment was found to play a substantial role in the progression of MPE, and mainly attributed to tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs).

BACKGROUND Acalculous cholecystitis is a rare form of gallbladder inflammation that occurs without the presence of gallstones. It primarily affects critically ill patients and warrants prompt treatment given its association with high mortality. Pericarditis, an inflammation of the pericardium, typically arises from viral infections but can also be secondary to rheumatological, malignant, or bacterial causes.
