Colossal negative magnetoresistance is a well-known phenomenon, notably observed in hole-doped ferromagnetic manganites. It remains a major research topic due to its potential in technological applications. In contrast, topological semimetals show large but positive magnetoresistance, originated from the high-mobility charge carriers. Here, we show that in the highly electron-doped region, the Dirac semimetal CeSbTe demonstrates similar properties as the manganites. CeSbTe hosts multiple charge density wave modulation vectors and has a complex magnetic phase diagram. We confirm that this compound is an antiferromagnetic Dirac semimetal. Despite having a metallic Fermi surface, the electronic transport properties are semiconductor-like and deviate from known theoretical models. An external magnetic field induces a semiconductor metal-like transition, which results in a colossal negative magnetoresistance. Moreover, signatures of the coupling between the charge density wave and a spin modulation are observed in resistivity. This spin modulation also produces a giant anomalous Hall response.

Dion-Jacobson (DJ) perovskites are promising alternatives for Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) perovskites to fabricate blue perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) due to their favorable structural and charge properties. However, the relatively weak hydrogen bond between the bridging diammonium group and perovskite poses huge challenges for regulating crystallization and defect density, leading to an undesirable film quality and device performance. Herein, we report the successful optimization of DJ perovskite films by introducing a new type of cesium octafluoroadipate (CsOFAA) precursor, which could strongly anchor the perovskite through coordination bonds and halogen-halogen bonds.

A stoichiometric cubic phase of zinc bismuth oxide ZnBiO (ZBO) is introduced as an anode for rechargeable Na-ion batteries. ZBO is synthesized using a coprecipitation method and characterized by various physicochemical techniques. Pristine ZBO shows a high cyclability in an ether-based electrolyte due to the formation of a robust interphase coupled with high Na conductivity.

It is well known that metals and metal oxides with different crystal facets exhibit varying sensitivity in gas sensors, but this strategy is rarely used in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Herein, we proved for the first time that Cu metal-organic with high energy crystal facets (Cu-MOF-74-300) shows a much higher sensitivity than the low energy crystal facets (Cu-MOF-74-110), with a up to 2 times response more than Cu-MOF-74-110 and ultra-low limit of detection (LOD) of 68 ppb to toluene vapors. In addition, this strategy was further demonstrated on MOF-14 and HKUST-1, which are also Cu-centered and exhibit clear recognition effects on benzene and xylene, respectively.

The unique structure and strong interaction of multiphase hybrid materials have garnered significant attention as prospective candidates for electrode materials in the realm of energy storage. The present study presents a rational design of a functional NiSe-CoSe/N, B double-doped carbon hybrid composite (NCS/C), resulting in the emergence of various novel cooperative regulatory mechanisms involving: (i) the heterogeneous structure of NiSe and CoSe generates built-in electric fields to increase electron mobility; (ii) the incorporation of polyatomic double-doped carbon (N, and B) expedites electron transfer rate; intriguingly, (iii) ionic liquids not only serve as polyatomic dopants in the reaction system but also influence the microstructure of the composite. Benefiting from these synergistic effects, the NCS/C hybrid exhibits remarkable charge storage capacity and rapid electrochemical kinetics, driven by its multi-fold hollow structure and multicomponent cooperative modulation.

The development of durable and highly efficient visible-light-driven photocatalysts is essential for the photocatalytic ozonation process towards degrading organic pollutants. This study presents CN-MA, a novel photocatalyst synthesized by grafting carbon nitride (CN) with single-atom Mn and 2-hydroxy-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine (HDMP) via one-step thermal polymerization. Experimental characterization and theoretical calculation results reveal that incorporating single-atom Mn and HDMP into CN alters the charge density distribution on the heptazine rings.
