We investigate the effects of non-magnetic disorder in a hybridized two-dimensional two-orbital s-wave superconductor (SC) model. The situation in which electronic orbitals overlap such that the hybridizationVi,jamong them is antisymmetric, under inversion symmetry, was taken into account. The on-site disorder is given by a random impurity potential. We find that while the random disorder acts to the detriment of superconductivity, hybridization proceeds to favor it. Accordingly, hybridization plays an important role in two-orbital models of superconductivity, in order to hold the long-range order against the increase of disorder. This makes the present model eligible to describe real materials, since the hybridization may be induced by pressure or doping. In addition, the regime from moderate to strong disorder reveals that the system is broken into SC islands with correlated local order parameters. These correlations persist to distances of several order lattice spacing which corresponds to the size of the SC-Islands.

Motivated by the recently reported signatures of superconductivity in trilayer La_{4}Ni_{3}O_{10} under pressure, we comprehensively study this system using ab initio and random-phase approximation techniques. Without electronic interactions, the Ni d_{3z^{2}-r^{2}} orbitals show a bonding-antibonding and nonbonding splitting behavior via the O p_{z} orbitals inducing a "trimer" lattice in La_{4}Ni_{3}O_{10}, analogous to the dimers of La_{3}Ni_{2}O_{7}. The Fermi surface consists of three electron sheets with mixed e_{g} orbitals, and a hole and an electron pocket made up of the d_{3z^{2}-r^{2}} orbital, suggesting a Ni two-orbital minimum model.

Nodeless High-T_{c} Superconductivity in the Highly Overdoped CuO_{2} Monolayer.

We study the electronic structure and superconductivity in a CuO_{2} monolayer grown recently on the d-wave cuprate superconductor Bi_{2}Sr_{2}CaCu_{2}O_{8+δ}. Density functional theory calculations indicate a significant charge transfer across the interface such that the CuO_{2} monolayer is heavily overdoped into the hole-rich regime yet inaccessible in bulk cuprates. We show that both the Cu d_{x^{2}-y^{2}} and d_{3z^{2}-r^{2}} orbitals become important and the Fermi surface contains one electron and one hole pocket associated with the two orbitals, respectively.

We study the symmetry and strength of the superconducting pairing in a two-orbital [Formula: see text] model for iron pnictides using the slave boson strong coupling approach. We show that the nearest-neighbor biquadratic interaction [Formula: see text] strongly affects the superconducting pairing phase diagram by promoting the [Formula: see text] B and the [Formula: see text] A channels. The resulting phase diagram consists of several competing pairing channels, including the isotropic [Formula: see text] A channel, an anisotropic [Formula: see text] B channel, and two [Formula: see text] pairing channels.
