The influence of fluorinated substituents on the luminescent properties of rhenium-oxo, osmium-nitrido, and gold triarylcorroles was studied via a comparison of four ligands: triphenylcorrole (TPC), tris(-trifluoromethylphenyl)corrole (TCFPC), tris{3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl}corrole (T3,5-CFPC), and tris(pentafluorophenyl)corrole (TPFPC). For each metal series examined, fluorinated substituents were found to enhance the luminescent properties, with the phosphorescence quantum yields and triplet decay times increasing in the order TPC < TCFPC < T3,5-CFPC < TPFPC. Among the 11 complexes examined, the highest phosphorescence quantum yield, 2.2%, was recorded for Re[TPFPC](O).

Thevinols and their 3-O-demethylated relatives, orvinols, are derivatives of the Diels-Alder adduct of natural alkaloid thebaine with methyl vinyl ketone. Taken together, thevinols and orvinols constitute an important family of opioid receptor (OR) ligands playing an important role in both the OR mediated antinociception and OR antagonism. Herein, we disclose for the first time the antagonist activity of the N-allyl substituted orvinol derivative fluorinated within the pharmacophore associated with C(20) and its surrounding.

The Zincke reaction and Birch reduction have been one of the few reactions that allow for ring opening of pyridines ever since the discovery of pyridine more than a century ago. This paper presents a new addition to the list of pyridine ring-opening reactions, reductive Zincke reaction, which affords saturated δ-amino ketones. Under the catalysis of a simple rhodium complex, pyridinium salts with diverse substituents are reduced with formic acid, ring-opened with water, transaminated with a secondary amine and further reduced to afford a wide range of δ-amino ketones, including those in which the alkane chain of the ketones is selectively deuterated or fluorinated.

The photovoltaic performance of inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) relies on effectively managing the interface between the hole extraction layer and the light-absorbing perovskite layer. In this study, we have synthesised (4-(3,6-bis(methylthio)-9H-carbazol-9-yl)butyl)phosphonic acid (MeS-4PACz), which forms a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) on the fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) electrode. The molecule's methylthio substituents generate a favourable interfacial dipole moment and interact with the perovskite layer.

A comprehensive study on the physicochemical properties of gem-fluorinated O-heterocyclic substituents is reported. Systematic additive effects of introducing O- and gem-CF group introduction on acidic properties (pK) of the corresponding carboxylic acids/protonated primary amines were demonstrated. The impact of the O/CF moieties on lipophilicity (LogP) was found to be complex; significant mutual influence of the corresponding polar moieties governed the compound's overall properties in this case.
