Background: Two Bispectral contrast enhancement approaches for the fluorescence diagnosis with chlorine-e6 and a wide field-of-view imaging system with fluorescence excitation at 405 nm and time-resolved background suppression were analyzed and compared.
Methods: Two techniques for the contrast enhancement of a fluorescent video system (Red/Green (R/G) ratio and Red-Green (R-G)) with time-resolved background suppression for fluorescent diagnosis (FD) were tested in four patients with basal cell carcinoma (BCC).
Results: The results of both contrast enhancement methods were compared for the diagnostic efficiency for FD of BCC. Both techniques successfully determined the boundaries of the lesions and the fluorescence intensity.
Conclusions: Both contrast enhancement modes have proven effective in identifying tumor borders in cases of low contrast in BCC FD with Ce6. While the Red/Green (R/G) mode provides sharper lesion borders, the Red minus Green (R-G) mode visualizes more fluorescent features and makes it easier to assess the lesion margins.

Background: Adenoid cystic carcinoma of the breast is a rare subtype, constituting less than 3.5% of primary breast carcinomas. Despite being categorized as a type of triple-negative breast cancer, it generally has a favorable prognosis.

Heat stress poses a significant challenge for maize production, especially during the spring when high temperatures disrupt cellular processes, impeding plant growth and development. The B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2) associated athanogene (BAG) gene family is known to be relatively conserved across various species. It plays a crucial role as molecular chaperone cofactors that are responsible for programmed cell death and tumorigenesis.

Background: Migraine is a common primary headache disorder, less frequently affecting men than women, and often regarded as predominantly a "women's disease." Despite this, migraine in men presents with unique characteristics in terms of symptoms, treatment responses, comorbidities, and pain perception. Historically, research has focused more on migraine in women, overlooking critical male-specific aspects.

Groundwater resources constitute one of the primary sources of freshwater in semi-arid and arid climates. Monitoring the groundwater quality is an essential component of environmental management. In this study, a comprehensive comparison was conducted to analyze the performance of nine ensembles and regular machine learning (ML) methods in predicting two water quality parameters including total dissolved solids (TDS) and pH, in an area with semi-arid climate conditions.

Previous research has suggested that numerosity estimation and counting are closely related to distributed and focused attention, respectively (Chong & Evans, WIREs Cognitive Science, 2(6), 634-638, 2011). Given the critical role of color in guiding attention, this study investigated its effects on numerosity processing by manipulating both color variety (single color, medium variety, high variety) and spatial arrangement (clustered, random). Results from the estimation task revealed that high color variety led to a perceptual bias towards larger quantities, regardless of whether colors were clustered or randomly arranged.
