The trochlea for the intermediate tendon of the digastric muscle: a review.

Anat Cell Biol

January 2025

Department of Neurosurgery, Tulane Center for Clinical Neurosciences, Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, LA, USA.

This review explores the novel perspective that the intermediate tendon of the digastric muscle may function as an anatomical trochlear pulley system within the human body, challenging the traditional understanding of trochlear systems. While widely recognized trochlear units include structures like the medial part of the humerus and the superior oblique muscle of the orbit, the review focuses on the unique anatomical arrangement of the intermediate tendon of the digastric muscle in connection with the anterior and posterior bellies of the digastric muscles. Despite current debates within the anatomical community about labeling the digastric muscles as having a trochlea, this paper delves into the scientific definition of a trochlear pulley system, presenting the intermediate tendon of the digastric muscle as a potential trochlea.

High-level multireference configuration interaction plus Davidson correction (MRCI + Q) calculation method was employed to determine the potential energy curves (PECs) of 10 Λ-S states, which come from the first and second dissociation channels of the SbP molecule, as well as 34 Ω states considering the spin-orbit coupling (SOC) effect. By solving the Schrödinger equation for nuclear motion, spectroscopic constants for the ground state XΣ and low-lying excited states were obtained and compared with experimental data. The excellent agreement indicates the reliability of our calculations.

[New systemic treatment approach for primary lymphoma of the orbit and the ocular adnexa].

Ophthalmologie

January 2025

Zentrum für Augenheilkunde, Medizinische Fakultät und Universitätsklinikum Köln, Universität zu Köln, Kerpener Str. 62, 50937, Köln, Deutschland.

Background: Orbital lymphomas are the most frequently occurring malignant tumor entities in this region. They are less frequently also localized in the ocular adnexa and show a high entity-specific heterogeneity regarding the treatment and prognosis.

Objective: This article gives an overview of the heterogeneity of symptoms of orbital lymphoma and lymphoma of the ocular adnexa and focuses on new systemic options for treatment of this disease.

Eccentric planets may spend a significant portion of their orbits at large distances from their host stars, where low temperatures can cause atmospheric CO to condense out onto the surface, similar to the polar ice caps on Mars. The radiative effects on the climates of these planets throughout their orbits would depend on the wavelength-dependent albedo of surface CO ice that may accumulate at or near apoastron and vary according to the spectral energy distribution of the host star. To explore these possible effects, we incorporated a CO ice-albedo parameterization into a one-dimensional energy balance climate model.
