One-dimensional (1D) magnetic material systems have attracted widespread interest from researchers because of their peculiar physical properties and potential applications in spintronics devices. However, the synthesis of 1D magnetic atomic chains has seldom been investigated. Here, we developed an iodine-assisted vacuum chemical vapor-phase transport (I-VCVT) method, utilizing single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with 1D cavities as templates, and high-quality and high-efficiency fabrication of 1D atomic chains of CrCl was achieved. Furthermore, the structure of CrCl atomic chains in the confined space of SWCNTs was analyzed in detail, and the charge transfer between the 1D atomic chains and SWCNTs was investigated through spectroscopic characterization. A comprehensive study of the dynamic magnetic properties revealed the existence of spin glass states and freezing of the 1D CrCl atomic chains at around 3 K, which has never been seen in bulk CrCl. Our work established an effective strategy for the control synthesis of 1D magnetic atomic chains with promising potential applications in further magnetic-based spintronics devices.

Background: Gallstone formation is a common digestive ailment, with unclear mechanisms underlying its development. Dysfunction of the gallbladder smooth muscle (GSM) may play a crucial role, particularly with a high-fat diet (HFD). This study aimed to investigate the effects of an HFD on GSM and assess how it alters contractility through changes in the extracellular matrix (ECM).

Introduction: Heavy metal pollution threatens the biodiversity and ecological equilibrium of the Nile River. This study investigates the impact of heavy metal pollution on aquatic animals such as Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) in the Damietta branch of the River Nile and El-Rayah El-Tawfeeky canal in Benha City in Egypt.
Methods: Fish and water samples were collected from the Damietta branch and El-Rayah El-Tawfeeky during the fall of 2022.

Magnetic one-dimensional nanostructures show great potential in spintronics and can be used as basic building blocks for magnetic materials and devices with multiple functions. In this study, transition group atomic chains (V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, and Ni) are introduced into nonmagnetic MoS with a 4|8ud-type grain boundary. Based on first-principles calculations, the V atomic chains show good thermodynamic stability and can self-assemble along the grain boundary direction.

RNA-lipid interactions directly influence RNA activity, which plays a crucial role in the development of new applications in medicine and biotechnology. However, while specific preferential behaviors between RNA and lipid bilayers have been identified experimentally, their molecular origin remains unexplored. Here we use molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the interaction between RNA and membranes composed of zwitterionic lipids at the atomistic level.

Many-body interactions in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are fundamental for emergent quantum physics. Unlike their solution counterpart, magnetization at surfaces in low-dimensional analogues is strongly influenced by magnetic anisotropy (MA) induced by the substrate and still not well understood. Here, on-surface coordination chemistry is used to synthesize on Ag(111) and superconducting Pb(111) an iron-based spin chain by using pyrene-4,5,9,10-tetraone (PTO) precursors as ligands.
