The COVID-19 pandemic highlights the need for effective and non-intrusive methods to monitor the well-being of elderly individuals in their homes, especially for early detection of potential viral infections. Conspicuously, the present paper develops a Multi-scaled Long Short Term Memory (Ms-LSTM) model for the routine health monitoring of elderly patients to detect COVID-19. The proposed method offers home-based health diagnostics through urine analysis by leveraging the IoT-Fog-Cloud paradigm. Mainly, the proposed model constitutes a four-layered architecture: data acquisition, fog layer, cloud layer, and interface layer. Each layer serves distinct functionalities and provides specific services, thereby collectively enhancing the overall effectiveness of the model. The statistical results of the study demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed Ms-LSTM model in comparison to state-of-the-art methods, including Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), K-Nearest Neighbors (K-NN), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest, and LSTM. Further, the proposed model attains a mean temporal efficiency of 39.23 seconds. It exhibits high reliability (92.97%), stability (70.06%), and predictive accuracy (93.25%).

The objectives of the study were to: 1) Describe characteristics and lifestyle factors of individuals who have achieved type 2 diabetes (T2D) remission (sub-diabetes glucose levels without glucose-lowering medications for ≥3 months) through changes to diet and exercise behaviour in real-world settings; 2) Investigate continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) profiles of these individuals and explore how dietary pattern may influence glucose regulation metrics. This cross-sectional study recruited individuals living with T2D who achieved remission via changes to diet or exercise behaviours. Various questionnaires were used to assess overall health and participants wore a blinded CGM for 14 days to assess glucose profiles and filled out three-day food records.

This paper explores how small local health departments (LHDs) motivated staff members, communicated progress toward Public Health Accreditation Board accreditation or Pathways Recognition, and celebrated interim and final accreditation accomplishments. Qualitative key informant interviews were conducted with 22 employees and affiliates of 4 LHDs with jurisdiction populations <50 000. LHDs motivated staff through ownership, creative strategies to monitor and record progress, and meaningful no- or low-cost incentives.

Pressures on honey bee health have substantially increased both colony mortality and beekeepers' costs for hive management across Europe. Although technological advances could offer cost-effective solutions to these challenges, there is little research into the incentives and barriers to technological adoption by beekeepers in Europe. Our study is the first to investigate beekeepers' willingness to adopt the Bee Health Card, a molecular diagnostic tool developed within the PoshBee EU project which can rapidly assess bee health by monitoring molecular changes in bees.
