This paper presents a novel approach to fabricate substrate integrated waveguides (SIWs) on glass substrates with tin (Sn) through glass vias (TGVs) tailored for millimeter-wave applications. The fabrication process employs a custom-designed vacuum suctioning system to rapidly fill precise TGV holes in the glass substrate, which are formed by wafer-level glass reflow micromachining techniques with molten tin in a minute. This method offers a very fast and cost-effective alternative for complete via filling without voids compared to the conventional metallization techniques such as electroplating or sputtering.

Aim: The study compares knowledge, skills, anxiety, satisfaction and self-confidence regarding suctioning between students trained using a partial task trainer with moulage and those using a low-fidelity simulator.

Background: Moulage application in simulation has been used in nursing skills training, such as intravenous therapy, pressure ulcer and burn care, but not for suctioning.

Design: A randomized controlled study with pre-test, post-test design.

New flow control elements in capillaric circuits are key to achieving ever more complex lab-on-a-chip functionality while maintaining their autonomous and easy-to-use nature. Capillary field effect transistors valves allow for flow in channels to be restricted and cut off utilising a high pressure triggering channel and occluding air bubble. The reversible capillary field effect transistor presented here provides a new element that can restore fluid flow in closed microchannels autonomous circuit feedback.

Chronic total occlusion (CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is high risk compared to non-CTO PCI. Iatrogenic coronary artery hematoma formation is a common occurrence during CTO PCI, impairing true lumen visualization. We describe the use of a continuous mechanical suction (CMS) device in 2 applications in which it was used for successful subintimal hematoma decompression and distal vessel re-entry.

Fat Grafting With Lymphedema Fat: From Trash to Treasure?

Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open

January 2025

From the Department of Plastic and General Surgery, Turku University Hospital, Turku, Finland.

Liposuction is a common procedure for patients with lymphedema with nonpitting adipose tissue hypertrophy. However, routinely, the lipoaspirate is discarded. Experimental studies have shown that adipose-derived stem cells in fat may enhance the regenerative and lymphangiogenic effects of the fat.
