Objective: It remains unclear whether general hospitals without psychiatric wards can provide sufficient services for both physical and mental health needs, as they often lack adequate psychiatrists, primarily due to cost constraints. This article explores the relationship between the number of full-time psychiatrists and functionality for integrating physical and mental health services in these settings.

Methods: The Medical Policy Committee of the Japanese Society of General Hospital Psychiatry conducted a nationwide survey in 2022 to evaluate the detailed scope and volume of service of psychiatric departments in general hospitals without a psychiatric ward.

Diagnosing cystic fibrosis in low- and middle-income countries: challenges and strategies.

Orphanet J Rare Dis

December 2024

Ion Channels and Channelopathies Laboratory, Institute for Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, University of Bern, Bühlstrasse 28, Bern, CH-3012, Switzerland.

Background: Cystic Fibrosis is caused by recessively inherited variants of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator. It is associated with diverse clinical presentations that can affect the respiratory, digestive, and reproductive systems and inhibit nutrient absorption and growth.

Main Body: The current estimation of people affected by Cystic Fibrosis is likely underestimated as this disease remains undiagnosed in countries with limited diagnostic capacity.

Aims: European Systematic Coronary Risk Assessment 2 for Older Persons (SCORE2-OP) model has shown modest performance when externally validated in selected cohorts. We aim to investigate its predictive performance and clinical utility for 10-years cardiovascular (CV) risk in an unbiased and representative cohort of older people of a low CV risk country. Furthermore, we explore whether other clinical or echocardiographic features could improve its performance.

Glutenin phase transition as a method of fabricating primer for superhydrophobic and corrosion-resistant coating.

J Colloid Interface Sci

March 2025

State Key Laboratory of Food Science and Resources, Jiangnan University, Wuxi 214122, Jiangsu Province, China; School of Food Science and Technology, Jiangnan University, Wuxi 214122, Jiangsu Province, China; Collaborative Innovation Center of Food Safety and Quality Control in Jiangsu Province, Jiangnan University, Wuxi 214122, Jiangsu Province, China. Electronic address:

Concerns over food safety arising from conventional plastic and resin-based corrosion barriers cannot be underestimated, particularly in light of the potential for plasticizer migration. We introduce an environmental-friendly and sustainable approach to develop superhydrophobic and anticorrosion coatings. This involved a unique process where glutenin, post-reduction with tris(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine, underwent a phase transition, naturally adhering to diverse surfaces to form a foundational primer.
