Background: Impulsivity is a multifaceted construct that plays a prominent role in substance use disorder (SUD). The UPPS-P model distinguishes five impulsivity components (positive urgency, negative urgency, lack of perseverance, lack of premeditation, and sensation seeking). This study aimed to explore the structure of the UPPS-P in patients hospitalized for SUDs and to investigate the relationship between the dimensions of impulsivity and clinical variables.
Method: Inpatients of a residential detoxification service ( = 125) were recruited. A confirmatory factor analysis was performed, and associations were assessed between the components of impulsivity and clinical indexes.
Results: The factor analysis supported a model of impulsivity with five interrelated latent variables. Good internal consistency was found. External validity was supported by relationships with psychological difficulties. Multiple correlations (Kendall) suggested that, except for its sensation-seeking component, impulsivity is a significant risk factor for both the severity of addictive problems and their comorbidities.
Conclusion: This study provides further evidence in favor of the 5-dimensional model of impulsivity. It highlights impulsivity as a transdiagnostic risk factor that should be considered in the management of SUD.

Background: Qatar has struggled with substance use disorders among its population. Qatar has maintained a relative political and social stability, which has informed a dramatic restructuring of its health and social care services with emphasis on being led by international best practice and primacy of patient rights. However, the rehabilitative model for substance use, which Qatar has placed emphasis on so far, has been based upon voluntary engagement of people who use substances.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide insights into which patient-level characteristics are associated with a positive treatment response among patients whose primary drug of choice was a psychostimulant with a particular emphasis on understanding the impact of age at first use and co-occurring psychiatric comorbidities.
Methods: We used a cross-sectional study design and the 2019 US Treatment Episode Data Set: Discharges (n = 167 802) to identify outpatient treatment episodes for which the primary drug of choice was a psychostimulant. We defined a positive treatment response as (1) a reduction in drug use between treatment admission and discharge or (2) no use at both admission and discharge.

An increasing number of new psychoactive substances (NPS), such as designer benzodiazepines, are becoming available on the recreational drug market. These are new unregistered substances and thereby an attempt to evade legislation. Often there is very limited clinical information available regarding these NPS, which could result in undesirable clinical outcomes in the management of intoxications, dependencies and withdrawals following NPS use.

Introduction: Methamphetamine detoxification before entering formal and longer term treatment may have a positive impact on treatment retention and success. Understanding geographic distribution of methamphetamine specialty detox services and differential access by race/ethnicity is critical for establishing policies that ensure equitable access across populations.
Methods: We used the Mental health and Addiction Treatment Tracking Repository to identify treatment facilities that offered any substance use detoxification in 2021 (N=2346) as well as the census block group in which they were located.
