Ardeids are wild birds well adapted to urban and periurban environments. However, the association of wildlife with humans and livestock increases the chances of transmission of microorganisms between wild animals, domestic animals and humans. The present study aimed to investigate the occurrence of Salmonella spp.

is a bacteria responsible for a widespread zoonosis that affects both humans and animals. Leptospirosis is a challenging pathology to diagnose and treat since its signs are unspecific and symptoms vary greatly. The disease seems to be highly prevalent in environments where reservoir animals such as rats and small mammals are common.

Bartonellae are zoonotic pathogens with a broad range of reservoir hosts and vectors. To examine sylvatic reservoirs, tissue samples of red deer (, = 114) and their associated deer keds (, = 50; , = 272) collected in the Czech Republic were tested for the presence of using PCR at four loci (, , , ITS); PCR sensitivity was increased significantly by using primers modified for the detection of wildlife-associated bartonellae. One-third of the deer and 70% of the deer keds were positive; within the tested animal tissues, usually the spleen was positive.

The genus Mittleman, 1950, belonging to the family Scincidae, exhibits considerable morphological convergence, complicating species delimitation and resulting in underestimated diversity. Currently, 41 species are formally recognized in this genus, although this figure likely underestimates its true richness. In this study, a new species of the genus , , is described from urban and suburban areas of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, Southwest China.

The infestation of ruminants by fly larvae of the Oestridae family can lead to nasopharyngeal or subcutaneous myiasis, which can harm animal welfare and productivity on sheep and cattle farms. The infestation of wild ruminants allows them to serve as reservoirs for subsequent transfer to domestic animals. The fly species most commonly responsible for myiasis have been well studied in many parts of the world, but less so in southeastern Europe.
