Round bodies in spirochete cultures have been a controversial subject since their description seven decades ago. We report the existence of round bodies (spherical cells) in cultures of , a spiral bacterium phylogenetically distant from spirochetes. Furthermore, when grown in biofilms, demonstrates a unique morphology known as cording, which has been previously described only in mycobacteria. Thus, has two distinct features, each previously thought to be unique to two different phylogenetically distant groups of bacteria.

Background: The connection between lipid-related obesity indices and severe headache or migraine in young and middle-aged people aged 20-60 remains ambiguous, and there are gaps in the discriminative ability of different indicators for severe headaches or migraines. Consequently, we set out to look into this association utilizing National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data from 1999 to 2004.

Methods: After the values of waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), body-mass index (BMI), body roundness index (BRI), visceral adiposity index (VAI), lipid accumulation product (LAP), triglyceride glucose index (TyG), cardiac metabolism index (CMI), waist triglyceride Index (WTI), conicity index (CI) and weight-adjusted waist index (WWI) were estimated, with minimal sufficient adjustment for confounders determined by directed acyclic graph (DAG), weighted univariable and multivariable logistic regression analyses were carried out to ascertain the relationship between them and migraine.

Background: Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein M (HnRNPM) is a key splicing factor involved in various biological processes, including the epithelial‒mesenchymal transition and cancer development. Alternative splicing is widely involved in the process of spermatogenesis. However, the function of hnRNPM as a splicing factor during spermatogenesis remains unknown.

Electronic address:

N-propanol is one of the higher alcohols, a moderate amount of n-propanol is beneficial for the harmony of the liquor body, whereas excessive or repeated intake will lead to discomfort and pose significant harm to human health. In actual production process of Jiangxiangxing Baijiu, the n-propanol content of the base baijiu in first round (FR) is far higher than that of second round (SR). Nevertheless, the formation mechanism and the key n-propanol producing microbials remain unclear and this limits the quality control of baijiu fermentation.

Laboratory of Veterinary Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, College of Veterinary Medicine, Chungbuk National University, Cheongju 28644, Republic of Korea.

The increasing emphasis on animal welfare and ethics, as well as the considerable time and cost involved with animal testing, have prompted the replacement of many aspects of animal testing with alternative methods. In the area of developmental toxicity, the embryonic stem cell test (EST) has played a significant role. The EST evaluates toxicity using mouse embryonic stem cells and somatic cells and observes the changes in heartbeat after cardiac differentiation.
