Soil pollution with heavy metals is a problem for the whole geosystem. The aim of the research is to identify new solutions for extracting heavy metals from polluted soils so that they can be further exploited. To this end, investigations of the physicochemical characteristics of the soil sample under study were carried out. Following the analyses, the soil was characterised as lute-coarse sand (UG) with a strongly acidic pH (4.67), a hygroscopicity coefficient (CH = 4.8% g/g), and a good supply of nutrients: nitrogen (N): 0.107%; mobile phosphorus (P): 6 mg kg and mobile potassium (K): 26 mg kg, but is low in humus (2.12%). The metal content of the soil was determined by atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), and the analyses showed high concentrations of metals (Pb: 27,660 mg kg; Cu: 5590 mg kg; Zn: 2199 mg kg; Cd: 11.68 mg kg; Cr: 146 mg kg). The removal of metals (Pb, Cu, Zn, Cd, and Cr) from polluted soil by different extraction agents (water, humus, malic acid, chitosan, and gluconic acid) was investigated. Metal extraction experiments were carried out in a continuous orbital rotation-oscillation stirrer at a solid/liquid/ (S/L ratio; g:mL) of 1:4, at two concentrations of extraction solution (1% and 3%), and at different stirring times (2, 4, 6, and 8 h). The yield of the extraction process is very low for all proposed extraction solutions. The maximum values of extraction efficiency are: 0.5% (Pb); 3.28% (Zn); and 5.72% (Cu). Higher values were obtained in the case of Cr (11.97%) in the variant of using humus 3% as an extraction solution at a stirring time of 6 h. In the investigated experimental conditions, the best removal efficiencies were obtained in the case of cadmium (26.71%) when using a 3% malic acid solution. In conclusion, it is considered that, from case to case, the type of extraction solution as well as the nature of the metal influence the mechanism of the depollution process, i.e., the capacity of the fine soil granules to free themselves from the pollutant metal that has adhered to them, and further research is considered necessary in the future.

The supramolecular binding exclusively by H-bonds of SeO, MoO and WO ions to form nanojars of the formula [EO⊂{-Cu(μ-OH)(μ-pz)}] (; E = Se, Mo, W; = 28-34; pz = pyrazolate) was studied in solution by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, variable temperature, paramagnetic H NMR and UV-vis spectroscopy, and in the solid state by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. These large anions allow for the observation of a record nanojar size, (E = Mo, W). Six crystal structures are described of nanojars of varying sizes with either SeO, MoO or WO entrapped ions, including the first example of a cocrystal of two different nanojars in crystallographically unique positions, and .

The detection of Estrogen Receptor (ER), Progesterone Receptor (PR), and Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) is important for the stratification of breast cancer and the selection of therapeutic modalities. This study aimed to determine the quantitative expression of ER, PR and HER-2 using Immunohistochemistry and their correlation with quantitative baseline Ct values measured using Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). This study also assessed the use of fresh breast tissue biopsies preserved in RNAlater solution in the quantitative detection of these receptors using PCR technique.

Emerging photovoltaics for outer space applications are one of the many examples where radiation hard molecular semiconductors are essential. However, due to a lack of general design principles, their resilience against extra-terrestrial high-energy radiation can currently not be predicted. In this work, the discovery of radiation hard materials is accelerated by combining the strengths of high-throughput, lab automation and machine learning.

Objective: This study compares the color change of non-vital anterior teeth after laser-activated bleaching and conventional walking bleaching technique.
Materials And Methods: Sixty extracted teeth were endodontically treated, stained in a black tea solution, and the baseline shade was measured using a spectrophotometer (Easyshade, VITA). Bleaching was done using either: internal bleaching with 35% HO (Opalescence Endo) and then tooth sealed for 5 days (Gr1), 35% HO (JW Next) for 7 minutes (Gr2), internal and external bleaching for 7 minutes (Gr3), diode laser-activated internal bleaching for 30 seconds (940 nm, continuous wave, 2 W, noncontact mode, 300 um, non-initiated tip), wait for 7 minutes, second laser application for 30 seconds, tooth sealed for 5 days (Gr4), diode laser-activated internal bleaching for 24 hours (Gr5), or diode laser-activated internal and external bleaching for 24 hours (Gr6) ( = 10).

Millions of men and women suffer from alopecia, especially androgenic alopecia (AGA), which is considered the most common form of hair loss. The available treatments for hair loss include multiple approaches, with the most popular being synthetic drugs including minoxidil and finasteride, in addition to natural products. However, synthetic drugs have shown many undesirable side effects, on the contrary, the specifications of the commonly used natural drugs have not been reported in most of the previous studies, despite the high market preference for them.
