Evaluation of endothelialization of an occluder device with cardiac computed tomography and assessment of the pathological validation.

PLoS One

January 2025

Department of Structural Heart Disease, Cardiovascular Institute and Fuwai Hospital, National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China.

Background: Assessing the endothelialization of occlusive devices noninvasively remains a challenge. Cardiac computed tomography angiography (CTA) can be employed to evaluate device endothelialization based on contrast uptake within the occluder.

Objective: This study examined device endothelialization using cardiac CTA and investigated the pathological associations.

Preterm births constitute a major public health issue and a chronic, cross-generational condition globally. Psychological and biological factors interact in a way that women from low socio-economic status (SES) are disproportionally affected by preterm delivery and at increased risk for the development of perinatal mental health problems. Low SES constitutes one of the most evident contributors to poor neurodevelopment of preterm infants.

Cardiac MR image reconstruction using cascaded hybrid dual domain deep learning framework.

PLoS One

January 2025

Medical Image Processing Research Group (MIPRG), Dept. of Elect. & Comp. Engineering, COMSATS University Islamabad, Islamabad, Pakistan.

Recovering diagnostic-quality cardiac MR images from highly under-sampled data is a current research focus, particularly in addressing cardiac and respiratory motion. Techniques such as Compressed Sensing (CS) and Parallel Imaging (pMRI) have been proposed to accelerate MRI data acquisition and improve image quality. However, these methods have limitations in high spatial-resolution applications, often resulting in blurring or residual artifacts.

Background: Training opportunities, work satisfaction, and the factors that influence them according to gender and subspecialties are understudied among Japanese cardiologists.

Methods: We investigated the career development of Japanese cardiologists with an e-mail questionnaire. Feelings of inequality in training opportunities, work dissatisfaction, and reasons were assessed by examining the cardiologists' gender and invasiveness of subspecialties.

Purpose: To assess the efficacy of bolus injections of landiolol hydrochloride as premedication in coronary artery CT angiography (CCTA).

Methods: The study population consisted of 37 patients (17 female; median age, 56 years; IQR, 19 years; range, 19-88 years) who underwent CCTA after intravenous injection of landiolol hydrochloride due to a heart rate > 60 bpm. Landiolol hydrochloride was administered in a stepwise manner until a heart rate of ≤ 60 bpm was achieved or a maximum dose of 60 mg was reached after six injections.
