In this study, we report the easy and low-cost synthesis of calcium niobate (CaNbO) with the isomorphic structure of the Rynersonite mineral for CaTaO. The samples were prepared by the ball milling method at room temperature at a synthesis time of 0.5, 1, 2, 3, and 4 h. The structural analysis by XRD, Rietveld refinement, and vibrational Raman spectroscopy confirms all diffraction peaks and active mode characteristics of the pure phase of CaNbO for the 3-h and 4-h samples, with a crystallite size of 22.5 and 23.2 nm, respectively. The optical band gap obtained was 3.18(2) eV (3-h sample), lower than the optical band gap for niobium oxide, characteristic of materials with strong photon absorption in the UVA region of the spectrum. The surface analysis by scanning electron microscopy reveals the obtention of several agglomerates of irregular particles ranging in the submicro and micro scales. Therefore, the present approach successfully obtained calcium niobate with the formula CaNbO at a short synthesis time and room temperature.

Background: Several health care networks have fully adopted second-generation supraglottic airway (SGA) i-gel. Real-world evidence of enhanced patient safety after such practice change is lacking. We hypothesized that the implementation of i-gel compared to the previous LMA®-Unique™ would be associated with a lower risk of airway-related safety events.

Objective: Idiopathic epilepsy (IE) is the most common chronic neurological disease in dogs and an established natural animal model for human epilepsy types with genetic and unknown etiology. However, the metabolic pathways underlying IE remain largely unknown.
Methods: Plasma samples of healthy dogs (n = 39) and dogs with IE (n = 49) were metabolically profiled (n = 121 known target metabolites) and fingerprinted (n = 1825 untargeted features) using liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of foveal bulge presence on visual acuity (VA) in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) and retinal vein occlusion (RVO).
Methods: Spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) scans were conducted on 22 DME patients and 20 RVO patients. Ordinary least squares (OLS) regression was employed to analyze the association between VA and the presence of the foveal bulge, as well as factors such as sex, age, central foveal thickness, various line scans of the fovea, and the external limiting membrane (ELM).

Proton-transfer reaction time-of-flight mass spectrometry (PTR-TOF-MS), combined with electronic nose (-nose), was first used to track the change of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in soy sauce in this study. The results showed that 163 VOCs with different mass numbers were identified. Based on the differences in VOCs, the entire fermentation cycle was divided into four stages (0D and 15D; 30D-75D; 90D; 105D-120D).

In the intelligent harvesting of eggplant, the lack of in situ identification technology makes it challenging to determine the maturity of purple eggplant fruit. The length of the fruit-setting date can determine when the eggplant is ready to be harvested. This study uses deep learning techniques to predict the date of fruit maturity.
