AI Article Synopsis

  • The study investigates the classification of a specific section of mushrooms within the Bolbitiaceae family, using specimens from China as a basis.
  • Researchers identified 17 species in total, including 7 new species with unique characteristics, such as hair on the cap and specific spore shapes.
  • The study combines morphological descriptions with genetic analysis to reveal evolutionary relationships among these species, suggesting that this section is fundamental to understanding broader classifications within the family.

Article Abstract

belongs to the Bolbitiaceae. The morphological classification and molecular phylogenetics of section are not in agreement. In this study, based on the specimens from China, we investigated the sect. and identified 17 species, including 7 new species: , with a densely hairy pileus and stipe; , with reniform spores; , with waxy dehydration of the lamellae; , growing on moss; , with two-spored basidia; , with a hygrophanous pileus; , growing on dung with a brown stipe; and , one new record for China. A key was compiled for the sect. in China. Here, the sect. , and new species and records from China are morphologically described and illustrated. Maximum likelihood and Bayesian analyses were performed using a combined nuc rDNA internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) and nuc 28S rDNA (nrLSU), and translation elongation factor 1-alpha () dataset to reconstruct the relationships of this section. We found that the sect. was the basal clade of , and its evolutionary features may shed light on the characteristics of . By integrating morphological classification and phylogenetic analysis, we explored the possible phylogenetic relationships among the species of the sect. in China.

The prefibrotic phase of primary myelofibrosis (pre-PMF) represents a distinct subentity within the spectrum of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Consensus Classification (ICC). Pre-PMF is characterized by unique morphological, clinical, and molecular features, distinguishing it from essential thrombocythemia (ET) and overt myelofibrosis (overt-PMF). The diagnostic process for pre-PMF relies on bone marrow histology, identification of molecular mutations and exclusion of other myeloid neoplasms.

Aims: Benign tumours of the rete testis include mostly cystadenomas and adenomas. A subset with tubular or tubulopapillary architecture shows morphological similarities to Sertoli cell tumours; these neoplasms were previously termed "Sertoliform cystadenomas of the rete testis". In the most recent WHO classification, they have been interpreted as Sertoli cell tumours, not otherwise specified (NOS), with pure intra-rete growth, and therefore excluded as an entity.

The Anji Salamander (Hynobius amjiensis) is a critically-endangered amphibian endemic to the Tianmushan Mountain area in southeastern China. As most of its congeneric species in the ancestral salamander family Hynobiidae, the osteology of H. amjiensis has remained essentially unknown and has hampered efforts in understanding morphological evolutionary patterns of early salamanders.

Premise: Pandanus Parkinson (Pandanaceae) is a large genus of paleotropical tree-like monocots. Previous studies using small DNA regions questioned the monophyly of the seven Pandanus subgenera, but low phylogenetic branch support hindered further investigations. We aimed to (1) test Pandanus subgeneric monophyly, (2) identify clade morphological synapomorphies, (3) investigate correlations between leaf anatomy of water storage tissue and climatic differentiation across clades, and (4) construct hypotheses on the genus' spatiotemporal history.

rearranged mesenchymal tumors are a recently described subset of soft tissue tumors, characterised by a or gene fusion and by distinctive morphological features. They show a circumscribed, multi-nodular growth pattern with bland spindle cells in a myxo-collagenous stroma, surrounded by staghorn-like vessels with perivascular hyalinization. First described by Lacambra et al in 2019, they were originally named -rearranged fibroblastic tumors.
