A study was made of the effect of poly(ADP-ribosylation) of proteins on the formation and repair of single-strand DNA breaks in gamma-irradiated (50 Gy) permeable Zajdela ascites hepatoma cells permeabilized by the treatment with 0.05% triton X-100. Incubation of gamma-irradiated permeable cells in conditions promoting DNA synthesis and providing ADP-ribosylation (in the presence of 1 mM NAD) did not cause any substantial changes in the formation of single-strand DNA breaks and did not influence their repair.

The purpose of this manuscript is to develop sustained release molecularly imprinted voriconazole (VOR) that were loaded into collagen shield (CS) for ocular treatment of fungal keratitis. Various molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) formulae were prepared by a precipitation polymerization technique. Different monomers and crosslinkers were tested to obtain better binding capacity.

The impact of gamma-irradiation from radioactive liquid wastewater on polymeric structures of nanofiltration (NF) membranes.

Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), 291 Daehak-ro, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon 34141, Republic of Korea. Electronic address:

In this study, the impacts of gamma-irradiation from the low- and intermediate-level liquid radioactive wastewaters (LILW) to polyamide (PA) structures of nanofiltration (NF) membranes were investigated. As the gamma-irradiation increased to 300 kGy in the aqueous solution at 5 bar, both the salt rejection and the water permeability of NF membranes were decreased from 95.6 ± 0.

Plant Stress Physiology and Biotechnology Section, Nuclear Agriculture and Biotechnology Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay, Mumbai 400 085, India.

Chitosan, being one of the most promising biological macromolecules, has an immense scope in agriculture to boost crop growth and defense responses. In this study, chitosan was exposed to gamma rays in order to obtain a low molecular weight derivative. Viscometric characterization showed a sharp decrease in molecular weight and FTIR based analysis confirmed retention of structural integrity of the polymer upon gamma irradiation.

Objectives: Salivary acinar and duct cells show different expression patterns of claudins, which may reflect their different functions. To study the role of claudins in saliva secretion, we examined alterations in the expression patterns of cell adhesion molecules in parotid glands of γ-irradiated rats and analyzed the influence of those changes on intercellular barrier function using primary cultures of parotid acinar cells.

Design: Rats were γ-irradiated with doses of 5, 15 or 20Gy, and expression levels of cell adhesion molecules were examined by immunoblotting analysis.
