Introduction: Intestinal constipation is a substantive global health concern, significantly impairing patient quality of life. An emerging view is that the gut microbiota plays a critical role in intestinal function, and probiotics could offer therapeutic benefits. This study aims to consolidate evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that assess the effectiveness of probiotics in modulating microbiota and ameliorating symptoms of constipation.

Aging is associated with the decline of tissue and cellular functions, which can promote the development of age-related diseases like cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurodegeneration, and disorders of the musculoskeletal and immune systems. Healthspan is the length of time an individual is in good health and free from chronic diseases and disabilities associated with aging. Two modifiable factors that can influence healthspan, promote healthy aging, and prevent the development of age-related diseases, are the diet and microbiota in the gastrointestinal tract (gut microbiota).

Purpose Of Review: The advent of checkpoint immunotherapy has dramatically changed the outcomes for patients with cancer. However, a considerable number of patients have little or no response to therapy. We review recent findings on the connection between the gut microbiota and the immune system, exploring whether this link could enhance the effectiveness of immunotherapy.

Humans maintain symbiotic relationships with complex microbial communities in their intestinal tracts that are paramount to their host's health and development. Given their importance, it is essential for the host to reliably acquire key members of the gut microbiota and assemble communities that provide benefits during important windows of host development. Epidemiological studies over the last 2 decades have convincingly shown that clinical and nutritional factors that disrupt early-life microbiome assembly predispose humans to infections and chronic noncommunicable diseases.

BODIPY-based photosensitizers were synthesized and tested for antimicrobial photodynamic therapy, revealing structural modifications enhancing the photodynamic therapy (PDT) effects. This research may lead to new PDT strategies for treating bacterial infections, including those resistant to traditional antibiotics, and offers insights into the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease through gut microbiota regulation.
