The development of α-glucosidase inhibitors is essential for the prevention of type II diabetes. Previous research has investigated inhibition using isolated α-glucosidase, which may not accurately reflect physical processes. The method presented in this study aims to establish a rapid and inexpensive in vivo method to study the inhibition of α-glucosidase activity using as a model organism. This method can be used to calculate the IC value of compounds of interest for inhibition of α-glucosidase activity. The method established in this study can be used for screening of anti-diabetic compounds. •A rapid and inexpensive method to study the inhibition of α-glucosidase activity.•This method can be used to calculate the IC value of compounds of interest for inhibition of α-glucosidase activity.•This is a useful method for in vivo screening of anti-diabetic compounds.

Effective delivery and controlled release of metallo-prodrugs with sustained activation and rapid response feed the needs of precise medicine in metal chemotherapeutics. However, gold-based anticancer drugs often suffer from detoxification binding and extracellular transfer by sulfur-containing peptides. To address this challenge, we integrate a thiol-activated prodrug strategy of newly prepared hypercoordinated carbon-centered gold(I) clusters (HCGCs) with their photosensitization character to augment the mitochondrial release of Au(I) in tumors.

In a previous report, we showed that voltage-gated K+ (Kv) Kv1 and Kv2 channels are involved in cAMP-induced neuritogenesis of mouse neuronal N2A cells. In this report, we examined the effects of tannic acid (TA) on Kv channels and neuritogenesis in N2A cells. TA (15 μM) mildly enhanced Kv currents at -30 to -20 mV but strongly inhibited Kv currents at higher voltages, causing a preferential activation of currents at low voltages.

Decapod crustaceans regulate molting through steroid molting hormones, ecdysteroids, synthesized by the molting gland (Y-organ, YO). Molt-inhibiting hormone (MIH), a neuropeptide synthesized and secreted by the eyestalk ganglia, negatively regulates YO ecdysteroidogenesis. MIH signaling is mediated by cyclic nucleotide second messengers.

This study aims to reveal the potential molecular mechanisms of modified Gegen Qinlian decoction (MGQD) in relieving ulcerative colitis (UC). C57BL/6J mice were used to establish experimental colitis via dextran sodium sulfate (DSS). Body weight, disease activity index (DAI), spleen weight, colon length, and histopathologic features were measured to evaluate the therapeutic effects of MGQD on mice with UC.

Background: Dysbiosis of the lung microbiome can contribute to the initiation and progression of lung cancer. Synchronous multiple primary lung cancer (sMPLC) is an increasingly recognized subtype of lung cancer characterized by high morbidity, difficulties in early detection, poor prognosis, and substantial clinical challenges. However, the relationship between sMPLC pathogenesis and changes in the lung microbiome remains unclear.
