Introduction: There are many suitable techniques for the treatment of soft tissue defects of the lower limb. Older subjects often with multiple comorbidities, presenting with a laterally located and complex defect, can be challenging to treat. This cohort are often unsuited to long procedures or multi-stage reconstruction and so one is faced with a paucity of options.

Purpose: The main treatment for macular hole (MH) is pars plana vitrectomy, with or without internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling, followed by gas tamponade and face-down positioning (FDP). This study aims to present the anatomical and visual outcomes following MH repair with optical coherence tomography (OCT)-guided FDP.
Methods: Thirty-two patients who underwent surgery for idiopathic MH were enrolled.

Background: Reconstructing full-thickness defects involving 50% to 75% of the horizontal length of the lower eyelid after medial and central full-thickness block resection can be challenging. As a disadvanatge, 1-stage reconstructions may require a free graft reconstruction of the posterior lamella. In addition, 2-stage reconstructions are associated with several complications, including erythema, and the eye must be temporarily closed after surgery.

Acquired hemophilia A (AHA) is a rare disorder in which autoantibodies against factor VIII (FVIII) lead to a bleeding phenotype that varies from life-threatening to no bleeding at all. Prolonged activated partial thromboplastin times (APTT) in patients with a bleeding phenotype should be investigated to rule out AHA and should never be ignored in a preprocedure patient. Most inhibitors in AHA are heat and time dependent, so mixing studies performed only on an immediate mix are not useful: both lupus anticoagulants and treatment with direct oral anticoagulants can coexist with AHA and confound the diagnosis.

A major complication of sepsis is the development of acute kidney injury (AKI). In case of acute tubular damage, Gc-globulin, a known serum sepsis marker is increasingly filtrated into the urine therefore, urinary Gc-globulin (u-Gc) levels may predict septic AKI. We developed and validated a competitive fluorescence ELISA method for u-Gc measurement.
