BACKGROUND For patients with end-stage renal disease, arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are often used for hemodialysis, but stenosis can impair their function. Traditional inpatient procedures to address AVF stenosis are effective but resource-intensive, prompting the need for alternative approaches like day surgery to optimize care and reduce costs. This study evaluated the feasibility of a day surgery model for AVF stenosis treatment in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients, aiming to develop a cost-effective and high-quality care model.

Decompensated cirrhosis is characterized by systemic inflammation and innate and adaptive immune dysfunction. Hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is a prevalent and debilitating condition characterized by cognitive disturbances in which ammonia and inflammation play a synergistic pathogenic role. Extraskeletal functions of vitamin D include immunomodulation, and its deficiency has been implicated in immune dysfunction and different forms of cognitive impairment.

: Parathyroidectomy (PTX) is generally curative in renal hyperparathyroidism (RHPT) that is refractory to medical treatment in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) patients. Severe hypocalcemia is a common complication of PTX and results in increased monitoring, interventions, lengths of stay, and costs of care. This study aimed to find the determinants and cutoff values of the biochemical determinants, if any, for severe post-operative hypocalcemia after PTX in adult patients with ESKD.

Background: Heart failure (HF) is a chronic condition that significantly affects morbidity and mortality. For patients with end-stage HF who are not candidates for heart transplantation, left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) provide mechanical circulatory support as a long-term solution, known as destination therapy (DT).
Objective: This meta-analysis aims to synthesize evidence on the survival rates, complications, and quality-of-life improvements associated with LVADs used as destination therapy in patients with end-stage HF.

Hepatic fibrosis (HF) is an important pathological state in the progression of chronic liver disease to end-stage liver disease and is usually triggered by alcohol, nonalcoholic fatty liver, chronic hepatitis viruses, autoimmune hepatitis (AIH), or cholestatic liver disease. Research on novel therapies has become a hot topic due to the reversibility of HF. Research into the molecular mechanisms of the pathology of HF and potential drug screening relies on reliable and rational biological models, mainly including animals and cells.
