Herein, we developed a ratiometric fluoroprobe by integrating okra-derived carbon quantum dots (CQDs) with amplex red (AR) using manganese dioxide nanosheets (MnO NSs) as a medium. Fluorescence intensities (FIs) of CQDs were sharply quenched by MnO NSs via an inner-filter effect processes, whereas the FIs of AR were significantly enhanced due to oxidation of AR to AR-ox by the oxidase-mimetic activity of MnO NSs. Acetyrylcholinesterase hydrolyzed acetylthiocholine to produce thiocholine, and the decomposition of MnO NSs to Mn by thiocholine led to the FI recovery of CQDs, but decreased FIs of AR-ox. Based on the above phenomenon and the inhibitory effect of dichlorvos (DDVP) on acetyrylcholinesterase activity, a novel ratiometric fluoroprobe for DDVP quantification was pioneered. Under optimized conditions, this fluoroprobe gave a wide linear range (4-120 μg/L), low detection limit (1.2 μg/L), and satisfactory fortification recoveries (90.0-110.0%), thereby providing good prospects for routine DDVP monitoring in foods.

The abnormal expression of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is linked to the development of various diseases. Accurate determination of AChE activity as well as screening AChE inhibitors (AChEIs) holds paramount importance for early diagnosis and treatment of AChE-related diseases. Herein, a fluorescent and colorimetric dual-channel probe based on gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) and manganese dioxide nanosheets (MnO NSs) was developed.

Manganese dioxide nanosheets (MnO NSs) have garnered significant attention in analytical sensing, while the majority of the previous reports suffer from a complex preparation process involving reducing agents, template or high-temperature. In this work, a novel MnO NSs decorated TiCT MXene nanoribbons (TiCTNR@MnO) composite was firstly assemblied via a facile one-step strategy and applied as a bi-signal generator to enable colorimetric and fluorescence (FL) dual-response sensing. During the assembly process, TiCTNR innovatively acted as both reductant and carrier to prevent the aggregation of MnO NSs.

In this study, zinc ions were employed as the central metal, while 4,4',4''-nitrilotribenzoic acid (HNTB) served as the fluorescent organic ligand. Through a single-step solvothermal approach, a novel Zn-based metal-organic framework (Zn-MOF) fluorescent material was successfully synthesized. The Zn-MOFs exhibit a cubic morphology, outstanding fluorescence properties, excellent water dispersibility, and robust resistance to high temperature and strong alkaline conditions.

As the most widely used immunoassay, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) relies on perishable enzymes and usually provides poor sensitivity and stability, limiting its application in detecting trace analytes in harsh environments. Herein, a new ratiometric fluorescence (RF) sensing platform enhanced by a nanozyme-enzyme cascade reaction composed of MnO nanosheets (MnO NSs) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) was proposed. In this RF platform, the versatile MnO NSs worked as a robust oxidase-like nanozyme to catalyze nonfluorescent Amplex Red (AR) into fluorescent resorufin and as a quencher to quench the fluorescence of carbon dots (CDs).

Small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) have gained wide attention as efficient carriers for disease treatment. However, the proclivity of sEVs to be ingested by source cells is insufficient to accurately target specific sites, posing a challenge in realizing controlled targeting treatment. Here, we developed an engineered sEV nanocarrier capable of precise tumor targeting and enhanced synergistic therapy.
