We demonstrate the performance and workload impact of incorporating a natural language model, pretrained on citations of biomedical literature, on a workflow of abstract screening for studies on prognostic factors in end-stage lung disease. The model was optimized on one-third of the abstracts, and model performance on the remaining abstracts was reported. Performance of the model, in terms of sensitivity, precision, F1 and inter-rater agreement, was moderate in comparison with other published models. However, incorporating it into the screening workflow, with the second reviewer screening only abstracts with conflicting decisions, translated into a 65% reduction in the number of abstracts screened by the second reviewer. Subsequent work will look at incorporating the pre-trained BERT model into screening workflows for other studies prospectively, as well as improving model performance.

Objective To study the impacts of curcumin on the proliferation, migration and cisplatin (DDP) resistance of bladder cancer cells by regulating the liver kinase B1-AMP activated protein kinase-microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 (LKB1-AMPK-LC3) signaling pathway. Methods Human bladder cancer cell line T24 was cultured in vitro, and its DDP resistant T24/DDP cells were induced by cisplatin (DDP). Introduction: The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommendation for cervical cancer screening includes the option to screen with high-risk human papilloma virus (hrHPV) alone, but some studies have reported that hrHPV testing alone missed precancerous and cancerous lesions. In this study, we evaluated the test performance characteristics of hrHPV in detecting cervical dysplasia with cervical cytology and biopsy as comparators.
Materials And Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of Papanicolaou smears between January and December 2019 performed at our institution with concurrent hrHPV and cytology testing.
