Diimino-carbene-supported germylone dimNHCGe does not react with BPh and does not activate dihydrogen in the FLP mode in the combination with this borane. However, it reacts with B(C F ) to give the zwitterionic borate dimNHCGe-(C F )BF(C F ) . This compound can be converted into the hydroborate dimNHCGe-(C F )BH(C F ) (8) and further into [dimNHCGe-(C F )B(C F ) ] (4). Compound 4 is a Ge/B analogue of Stephan's FLP parent P/B compound (C H Me ) P-C F -B(C F ) but unlike the latter cannot split dihydrogen. Moreover, attempts to prepare a Ge/B analogue of the zwitterion (C H Me ) HP-C F -BH(C F ) by protonation of borate 8 resulted in immediate elimination of H

In the presence of TMEDA (TMEDA=N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine), zinc dihydride reacted with germanium(II) compounds (BDI-H)Ge (1) and [(BDI)Ge][B(3,5-(CF ) C H ) ] (3) (BDI-H = HC{(C=CH )(CMe)(NAr) }, BDI = [HC(CMeNAr) ]; Ar = 2,6- Pr C H ) by formal insertion of the germanium(II) center into the Zn-H bond of polymeric [ZnH ] to give neutral and cationic zincagermane with a H-Ge-Zn-H core [(BDI-H)Ge(H)-(H)Zn(tmeda)] (2) and [(BDI)Ge(H)-(H)Zn(tmeda)][B(3,5-(CF ) C H ) ] (4), respectively. Compound 2 eliminated [ZnH ] giving diamido germylene 1 at 60 °C. Compound 2 and deuterated analogue 2-d exchanged with [ZnH ] and [ZnD ] in the presence of TMEDA to give a mixture of 2 and 2-d .

Pharmacological boosting of cGAS activation sensitizes chemotherapy by enhancing antitumor immunity.

Enhancing chemosensitivity is one of the largest unmet medical needs in cancer therapy. Cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS) connects genome instability caused by platinum-based chemotherapeutics to type I interferon (IFN) response. Here, by using a high-throughput small-molecule microarray-based screening of cGAS interacting compounds, we identify brivanib, known as a dual inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor and fibroblast growth factor receptor, as a cGAS modulator.

The reaction of the germylene chloride (NacNac)GeCl (, NacNac = CH{(CMe)(2,6-PrCHN)}), phenylacetylene, and B(CF) gives the intermolecular frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) addition product . In this case, the Ge(II) center acts as a base. In contrast, the analogous reaction of germylene thiocyanate reacts independently with B(CF) to give the germylene cation salt [(NacNac)Ge][SCNB(CF)] .

Three-dimensional graphene-like biochar derived from Enteromorpha (EGB) was prepared as a persulfate (PS) activator for sulfamethoxazole (SMX) degradation. The graphitic N in the EGB samples not only endowed the superior binding energy towards SMX adsorption, but also promote the PS binding with the EGB, which was crucial to the catalytic degradation of SMX in EGB/PS system. Different from the radical-based oxidation in biochar prepared at 400 °C via the persistent free radicals (PFRs), both O and surface electron transfer served as non-radical pathways in the EGB samples prepared above 500 °C, acting together with free radicals (O∙) on SMX degradation.
