Probing regional glycogen metabolism in humans non-invasively has been challenging due to a lack of sensitive approaches. Here we studied human muscle glycogen dynamics post-exercise with a spatial resolution of millimeters and temporal resolution of minutes, using relayed nuclear Overhauser effect (glycoNOE) MRI. Data at 5T showed a homogeneous distribution of glycogen in resting muscle, with an average concentration of 99 ± 13 mM.

Osteoimmunology in bone malignancies: a symphony with evil.

Bone marrow is pivotal for normal hematopoiesis and immune responses, yet it is often compromised by malignancies. The bone microenvironment (BME), composed of bone and immune cells, maintains skeletal integrity and blood production. The emergence of primary or metastatic tumors in the skeletal system results in severe complications and contributes significantly to cancer-related mortality.

As maxillofacial surgery becomes increasingly digitized and the transformative impact of pre-surgical scanning and computer simulation is recognized, this clinical paper presents an algorithm for the selection of interventions in severe congenital oligodontia with Angle class-III malocclusion (OCIII) utilizing such technologies. A complex, multifactorial condition with varying degrees of craniofacial involvement, OCIII is associated with edentulous facial appearance, mandibular prognathism and deep underbite, as well as malocclusion. Our methodology involves the integration of CBCT imaging, intra- and extra- oral scanning, and 3D planning with the assessment of bone volume, number of missing teeth, skeletal discrepancies, and patient compliance in the selection of suitable treatments.

Impaired nutritional status is closely related to the development of sarcopenia and poor quality of life (QoL) in cancer patients. This study aimed to investigate the association of Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) with sarcopenia and QoL in patients with gastric cancer (GC). Sarcopenia was diagnosed based on the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019 criteria.

Although the connection between muscular strength and flatfoot condition is well-established, the impact of corrective exercises on these muscles remains inadequately explored. This study aimed to assess the impact of intrinsic- versus extrinsic-first corrective exercise programs on muscle morphometry and navicular drop in boys with flexible flatfoot. Twenty-five boys aged 10-12 with flexible flatfoot participated, undergoing a 12-week corrective exercise program, with a shift in focus at six weeks.
