Carbon supported intermetallic compound nanoparticles with high activity and stability are promising cathodic catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction in proton-exchange-membrane fuel cells. However, the synthesis of intermetallic catalysts suffers from large diffusion barrier for atom ordering, resulting in low ordering degree and limited performance. We demonstrate a low-melting-point metal doping strategy for the synthesis of highly ordered L1-type M-doped PtCo (M = Ga, Pb, Sb, Cu) intermetallic catalysts. We find that the ordering degree of the M-doped PtCo catalysts increases with the decrease of melting point of M. Theoretic studies reveal that the low-melting-point metal doping can decrease the energy barrier for atom diffusion. The prepared highly ordered Ga-doped PtCo catalyst exhibits a large mass activity of 1.07 A mg at 0.9 V in H-O fuel cells and a rated power density of 1.05 W cm in H-air fuel cells, with a Pt loading of 0.075 mg cm.

Postoperative ileus, the temporary cessation of gastrointestinal motility leading to accumulation of fluid and gas in the bowel, is a common complication following posterior spine fusion (PSF) in patients with neuromuscular scoliosis (NMS). Abdominal radiographs (KUBs) are often ordered to differentiate between ileus and mechanical obstruction but expose patients to radiation, add cost, and may lead to unnecessary work up. The aim of this study was to determine how often KUBs led to a change in treatment after PSF in patients with NMS.

Objectives: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has changed the dietary behavior of college students; however, the persistence of the changes in dietary behavior remains uncertain. This study aims to explore the changes in school food consumption and dietary quality of college students during three distinct COVID-19 periods: pre-epidemic (stage T1), epidemic (stage T2), and post-COVID-19 epidemic (stage T3).

Methods: The persistent 6-year data, involving 3,484,081 dietary records from January 2018 to December 2023, for college students were acquired from the "Intelligent Ordering System (IOS)".

Background/objectives: Despite the accumulating evidence on the detrimental impact of UPFs on health, a common limit of the available studies concerns the instruments used to collect information about the consumption of processed foods. Recently, a specific NOVA-FFQ was proposed for the evaluation of ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption, but it does not allow the simultaneous assessment of energy and nutrient intake. We evaluate the concordance between the NOVA-FFQ and a common questionnaire (EPIC-FFQ) when assessing (1) the intake of foods with different degrees of processing and (2) the relationship between diet composition and cardiometabolic profile.

The WRKY70 transcription factor (TF) was reported to play an important role in the salt stress response mechanism of in our previous research, and we also produced several overexpression (OEXs) and RNAi suppression (REXs) × lines. In order to further compare the photosynthetic and physiological characteristics of NT (non-transgenic line) and transgenic lines under salt stress, the dynamic phenotypic change, Na and K content in leaf and root tissues, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD) activity, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, chlorophyll content (Chl), photosynthesis parameters (net photosynthetic rate, P; stomatal conductance, Gs; intercellular CO concentration, C; transpiration rate, T), chlorophyll fluorescence parameters (electron transport rate, ETR; maximum photochemical efficiency of photosystem II (PSII), F/F; actual efficiency of PSII, Φ; photochemical quenching coefficient, q; non-photochemical quenching, NPQ; the photosynthetic light-response curves of Φ and ETR) and RNA-seq of NT, OEX and REX lines were detected and analyzed. The phenotypic observation, MDA content and Chl detection results indicate that the stress damage of REXs was less severe than that of NT and OEX lines under salt stress.

The concentration of natural radionuclides Ra, Th and K in ceramic tiles manufactured in Poland is presented in this paper. The concentration of natural radioactive isotopes in the tested samples was determined using a low-level digital gamma ray spectrometer equipped with an HPGe semiconductor detector. The mean concentrations of Ra, Th and K in the analyzed samples were found to be 48 ± 3 Bq∙kg, 49 ± 3 Bq∙kg and 476 ± 23 Bq∙kg, respectively.
