Density functional theory has been employed to study indolo[3,2,1-]carbazole donor-based dyes, incorporating one and two units of 2,4-dimethoxybenzene auxiliary donors. Electrostatic potential analysis highlights the dye with one auxiliary donor (D2) as having the highest charge-donating capability. Structural analysis shows that auxiliary donors enhance planarity, reduce steric hindrance, and improve π-conjugation.

The cross-linking sites and structure of protein-polyphenol complexes are susceptible to the type, structure, weight of polyphenols under nonthermal process. The low bioavailability and poor gastrointestinal instability of curcumin (CUR) hampers its application. Hence, changes in binding mechanism, structural and functional properties between β-lactoglobulin (β-LG) with two different configurations of chlorogenic acids (neochlorogenic acids (3-CQA) and cryptochlorogenic acids (4-CQA) by non-covalent binding under ultrasonic treatment, and the potential capacity for loading CUR were researched.

The development of redox-sensitive molecular fluorescent probes for the detection of redox changes in Plasmodium falciparum-parasitized red blood cells remains of interest due to the limitations of current genetically encoded biosensors. This study describes the design, screening and synthesis of new pro-fluorophores based on flavylium azido dyes coupled by CuAAC click chemistry to alkynyl analogues of plasmodione oxide, the key metabolite of the potent redox-active antimalarial plasmodione. The photophysical and electrochemical properties of these probes were evaluated, focusing on their fluorogenic responses.

In this study, we report the design and synthesis of a series of non-porous amorphous polyethyleneimine-based adsorbents, specifically PEI-PD, PEI-TC, and PEI-CC, for selective adsorption of anionic dyes from aqueous solutions. Utilizing pyromellitic dianhydride (PD), terephthaloyl chloride (TC), and cyanuric chloride (CC) as cross-linking agents, we produced adsorbents with distinct morphological and adsorption characteristics.
