AI Article Synopsis

  • Many prediction models exist to identify individuals at high risk of type 2 diabetes.
  • However, the actual usage of these models in real-world settings is limited.
  • This review highlights the gap between the development of these models and their practical implementation in healthcare.

Article Abstract

Although a prediction model is expected to identify individuals who are at a high risk of type 2 diabetes, the implementation status of prediction models has not been well examined. Our review indicates that the implementation of predictive models in practice remains low despite the increase in models being developed.

: People with intellectual disabilities (IDs), representing approximately 200 million individuals globally (3% of the world's population), face significant disparities in cancer prevention and care. While cancer remains one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide, the intersection of cancer care and intellectual disability presents unique challenges that demand specialized attention within healthcare systems. This study evaluates the current status and effectiveness of National Cancer Control Programs (NCCPs) for individuals with intellectual disabilities across the European Union.

The immune system's response to an invading pathogen is the critical determinant in recovery from illness. Here, we hypothesize that the immune response will swiftly follow classical activation and a resolution trajectory in patients with the rapid evolution of symptoms if challenged by a viral pathogen for the first time. Alternatively, a dysregulated response will be signified by a protracted clinical trajectory.

Background/objective: Despite surgery being the primary curative treatment for cancer, patients with compromised preoperative physical, nutritional, and psychological status are often at a higher risk for complications. While various screening tools exist to assess physical, nutritional, and psychological status, there is currently no standardised self-reporting tool, or established cut-off points for comprehensive risk assessment. This study aims to develop, validate, and implement an online self-reporting preoperative screening tool that identifies modifiable risk factors in cancer surgery patients.
