Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) release Ag ions with potent bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effects. They have shown promising results as an intracanal medicament for removing (), a resistant bacterium associated with root canal failures. This review summarizes the role of AgNPs as an intracanal medicament. Original research articles on AgNPs as an intracanal medicament were searched in databases such as MEDLINE (PubMed), Scopus, and Embase, resulting in 24 studies. They showed that AgNPs effectively eliminated and reduced postoperative pain following root canal therapy. However, these effects should be further verified through clinical trials as most of the studies were in vitro.

Background: Propolis is a natural substance produced by honeybees that has various biological properties including, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Although previous studies have evaluated the antimicrobial effects of propolis in dentistry, its effects on dental pulp stem cell (DPSC) viability, migration, and differentiation are yet not well understood. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of Chinese propolis on viability/proliferation, migration, differentiation and cytokine expression in DPSCs.

Intracanal medicaments are an important adjunct to the effective disinfection of the root canal system. However, conventional intracanal medicaments do not provide adequate protection against , which is the organism of interest in many cases of root canal failures. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of biosynthesized calcium oxide nanoparticles (CaO NPs) on the antibacterial activity, pH, microleakage and cytotoxicity of intracanal medicaments.

Aim And Objective: This study aims to evaluate and compare the sealing integrity of endodontically treated teeth after the placement of novel nanoparticle-based intracanal medicaments through dye penetration.

Materials And Methods: Total samples (n=56) with different experimental intracanal medicaments group 1: nano calcium oxide (nCaO) + propylene glycol (PPG) 400, group 2: nano zinc oxide (nZnO) + PPG400, group 3: nano magnesium oxide (nMgO) + PPG400, group 4: metapaste (control) were randomly divided for qualitative (n=28) and quantitative (n=28) analysis to determine the sealing integrity. The statistical analysis was performed using ANOVA, student t-test, and IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 20 (Released 2011; IBM Corp.
