Background: Although several studies have demonstrated a link between obesity and cognitive function, the majority have primarily utilized body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference, ignoring the distribution of body fat. Evidence regarding the association of metabolic score for visceral fat (METS-VF), a proposed measurement for visceral adipose tissue (VAT), with cognitive function remains limited. We mainly aimed to investigate this association in older adults in the United States.

Introduction: The accelerated motorization has brought a series of environmental concerns and damaged public environmental health by causing severe air and noise pollution. The advocate of urban rail transit system such as metro is effective to reduce the private car dependence and alleviate associated environmental outcomes. Meanwhile, the increased metro usage can also benefit public and individual health by facilitating physical activities such as walking or cycling to the metro station.

Physics-informed two-tier neural network for non-linear model order reduction.

In recent years, machine learning (ML) has had a great impact in the area of non-intrusive, non-linear model order reduction (MOR). However, the offline training phase often still entails high computational costs since it requires numerous, expensive, full-order solutions as the training data. Furthermore, in state-of-the-art methods, neural networks trained by a small amount of training data cannot be expected to generalize sufficiently well, and the training phase often ignores the underlying physical information when it is applied with MOR.

Asymmetric effects of remittances on output in expansions and recessions.

Using non-linear methods, we argue that current research on estimates of remittance multipliers in expansions and recessions may yield biased results by ignoring whether remittances are increasing or decreasing. We employ an extended non-linear ARDL model to decompose remittance data into positive and negative shocks during expansions and recessions with data from the top eight remittance-receiving developing countries. We find that a decline in remittances will reduce output in expansions.

Full-reference point cloud quality assessment (FR-PCQA) aims to infer the quality of distorted point clouds with available references. Most of the existing FR-PCQA metrics ignore the fact that the human visual system (HVS) dynamically tackles visual information according to different distortion levels (i.e.
