Three experiments tested the hypothesis that response selection skill involves associations between individual stimulus features and responses. The Orientation group in Experiments 1 and 2 first practiced responding to the orientation of a line stimulus while ignoring its color, and the Color group practiced responding to the color of the line while disregarding its orientation. When in the ensuing test conditions the Orientation group responded to the color of the line, RTs and errors increased when the then irrelevant line orientation was inconsistent with practice. This confirmed that during practice, Orientation participants had developed orientation feature-response associations they could not fully inhibit. Yet, evidence for color feature-response associations was not observed in the Color group. This was attributed to orientation identification being faster than color identification, even after having practiced responding to colors. Experiment 3 involved practicing to three line stimuli with unique orientation and color combinations. It showed evidence for the independent development of orientation feature-response associations and color feature-response associations. Together, these results indicate that the typical RT reduction with practice in response selection tasks is caused in part by the capacity of participants to learn selecting responses on the basis of the stimulus feature that becomes available first.

Background: This study investigates the association of intraocular cytokine expression and ultrawide-field fluorescein angiography (UWFA) quantitative imaging biomarkers and their association with angiographical feature response after antivascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) therapy in diabetic macular oedema (DME).

Methods: The IMAGINE DME study is a post hoc imaging biomarker and intraocular cytokine assessment from the DAVE study, a prospective DME clinical trial that included aqueous humour sampling and UWFA imaging. Fifty-four cytokines associated with inflammation and angiogenesis were evaluated through multiplex arrays.

We develop a machine learning tool useful for predicting the instantaneous dynamical state of sub-monomer features within long linear polymer chains, as well as extracting the dominant macromolecular motions associated with sub-monomer behaviors of interest. We employ the tool to better understand and predict sub-monomer A2 domain unfolding dynamics occurring amidst the dominant large-scale macromolecular motions of the biopolymer von Willebrand Factor (vWF) immersed in flow. Results of coarse-grained Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations of non-grafted vWF multimers subject to a shearing flow were used as input variables to a Random Forest Algorithm (RFA).

The P3b component of human event-related EEG potentials is larger with rare than frequent task-relevant stimuli. In a previous study, this oddball effect was much reduced when stimulus-response (S-R) mappings were still undefined at stimulus presentation (being later provided by response prompts). This reduction may reflect P3b's dependence on transmitted information which might be any relevant information (informational value hypothesis) or, more specifically, information about how to respond (S-R link hypothesis).

Feature-reward association elicits value-driven attentional capture (VDAC) regardless of the task relevance of associated features. What are the necessary conditions for feature-reward associations in VDAC? Recent studies claim that VDAC is based on Pavlovian conditioning. In this study, we manipulated the temporal relationships among feature, response, and reward in reward learning to elucidate the necessary components of VDAC.
