Diagnostic accuracy was evaluated in a signal detection experiment that used low-contrast acute lesions in a living dog model. At the high levels of certainty normally used by radiologists, rare earth screen-film systems provided accuracy comparable to that of a reference calcium tungstate screen-film system. Additionally subjective image quality evaluation for a given imaging task (clinical pediatric anterior-posterior chest films) based on visualization of anatomic landmarks and physical parameters has been conducted for several rare earth and one calcium tungstate screen-film system. The correspondence of subjective physical ranking with physical and psychophysical measurements was investigated. Evaluating the visualization of anatomic parameters can provide a clear and objective distinction among systems with comparable physical and psychophysical properties.

Background: Quantitative molecular imaging via single-photon emission computed tomography-derived standardised uptake value (SPECT/CT-SUV) is used to assess the response of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) patients to targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) with [Lu]Lu-PSMA. This imaging technique determines the radiopharmaceutical distribution and internal dosimetry in patients who receive TRT. However, there is limited evidence regarding the role of image quantification in monitoring changes induced by [Lu]Lu-PSMA.

Background: We aimed to evaluate and compare the rise in the temperature for the safety of the kidney parenchyma on firing the Holmium: Yttrium Aluminium Garnet laser and the Thulium Fiber Laser during laser lithotripsy in humans.
Method: We included 30 pre-stented patients with renal calculi undergoing Retrograde intra-renal surgery. They were randomized into two groups - 15 patients underwent holmium laser lithotripsy and 15 patients underwent TFL laser lithotripsy.

Dissolved Rare Earth Elements (REEs) concentrations have been widely used in geochemical studies due to their systematic changes in the environment, acting as tracers in various natural processes. In addition to the usefulness of naturally controlled chemical REE fractionations used in the ocean, the extraction and measurement procedures of seawater REEs using chelating resin and ICP-MS may also be subject to method-derived analytical fractionations, leading to potential misinterpretations. The bracketing standard and the Lu methods were compared to verify any fractionation or deviation associated with the analytical processes.

Hyperaccumulators harbor potentials for remediating rare earth elements (REEs)-contaminated soils. However, how they thrive in low-nutrient abandoned REEs mining sites is poorly understood. Three ferns (REEs-hyperaccumulators Dicranopteris pedata and Blechnum orientale, and non-hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata) along with their rhizosphere soils were collected to answer this question by comparing differences in soil nutrient levels, soil and plant REEs concentrations, and bacterial diversity, composition, and functions.

Magnetic systems, wherein competing degree of freedoms arising from spin orbit coupling and crystal electric field lead to non-trivial magnetic ground states, remains in the forefront of research in condensed matter physics. Here, we present a comprehensive investigation on three-dimensional rare-earth based spin systems NdTaO4 and NdNbO4, where the Nd ions sit on a stretched diamond lattice. No signatures of long-range ordering and spin freezing are observed down to 1.
