Serendipitous discovery of bida (i.e., N-Ar-N-((1-Ar-1-benzo[]imidazol-2-yl)methyl)benzene-1,2-diamide; Ar = 2,6-Pr-CH), a potentially redox noninnocent, hemilabile pincer ligand with a methylene group that may facilitate proton/H atom reactivity, prompted its investigation. Chromium was chosen for study due to its multiple stable oxidation states. Disodium salt (bida)Na(THF) was prepared by thermal rearrangement of (dadi)Na(THF) (i.e., (N,'-di-2-(2,6-diisopropylphenylamine)phenylglyoxaldiimine)-Na(THF)). Salt metathesis of (bida)Na(THF) (generated in situ) with CrCl(THF) or ClV═NAr (Ar = 2,6-PrCH) afforded (bida)CrCl(THF) (-THF) and (bida)ClV═NAr, respectively. Substitutions provided (bida)CrCl(PMePh) (-PMePh) and (bida)CrR(THF) (-R, where R = Me, CHCMePh (Nph)). Oxidation of -THF with ArN (Ar = 2,6-PrCH) or AdN (Ad = 1-adamantyl) generated (bida)ClCr═NAr (═NAr) and (bida)ClCr═NAd (═NAd) and subsequent alkylation converted these to (bida)R'Cr═NR (R' = Me, R = Ad, Ar, ═NR; R' = CHCMePh (Nph), R = Ad, Ar, ═NR). In contrast, the addition of AdN to -Nph gave the insertion product (bida)Cr(κ-N,N-ArNNph) (). Addition of N-chlorosuccinimide to -THF produced (bia)CrCl(THF) (), where bia is the pincer derived via hydrogen atom loss from bida methylene. A similar HAT afforded (bia)ClCr(CNAr') (, Ar' = 2,6-MeCH) when ═NAd was exposed to Ar'NC. An empirical equation of charge was applied to each bida species, whose metric parameters are unchanging despite formal oxidation state conversions from Cr(III) to Cr(V). Calculations and Mulliken spin density assessments reveal several situations in which antiferromagnetic (AF) coupling and admixtures of integer ground states (GSs) describe a complicated electronic structure.

Corneal injuries are common in human and veterinary ophthalmology. There are many studies which have investigated the treatment of corneal epithelial defects. This study aimed to investigate the effects of Neutral Protamine Hagedorn (NPH) insulin as an ointment for wound healing in experimental corneal defects.

The proportional hazards (PH) assumption is often violated in clinical trials. If the most commonly used Log-rank test is used for trial design in non-proportional hazard (NPH) cases, it will result in power loss or inflation, and the effect measures hazard ratio will become difficult to interpret. To circumvent the issue caused by the NPH for trial design and to make the effect measures easy to interpret and communicate, two simulation-free methods about restricted mean survival time group sequential (GS-RMST) design are introduced in this study: the independent increment GS-RMST (GS-RMSTi) design and the non-independent increment GS-RMST (GS-RMSTn) design.

Introduction: Phenotypic heterogeneity and unpredictability of individual disease progression present enormous challenges in ultrarare renal ciliopathies. The tubular-derived glycoprotein, Dickkopf-related protein 3 (DKK3) is a promising biomarker for kidney fibrosis and prediction of kidney function decline. Here, we measured urinary DKK3 (uDKK3) levels in 195 pediatric patients with renal ciliopathy to assess its potential as a discriminative and prediction marker.

Background: Cerebral autoregulation is a robust regulatory mechanism that stabilizes cerebral blood flow in response to reduced blood pressure, thereby preventing cerebral ischaemia. Scientists have long believed that cerebral autoregulation also stabilizes cerebral blood flow against increases in intracranial pressure, which is another component that determines cerebral perfusion pressure. However, this idea was inconsistent with the complex pathogenesis of normal pressure hydrocephalus, which includes components of chronic cerebral ischaemia due to mild increases in intracranial pressure.

The first carbocyclic gallylene [(ADC)Ga(GaI)] and bis-gallylene [(ADC)Ga] (ADC = PhC{N(Dipp)C}; Dipp = 2,6-iPrCH) featuring a central CGa ring annulated between two 1,3-imidazole rings are prepared by KC reductions of [(ADC)GaI]. Treatment of [(ADC)Ga] with Fe(CO) affords complex [(ADC)GaFe(CO)] in which each Ga(i) atom serves as a two-electron donor. [(ADC)Ga] activates white phosphorus (P) and the C -F bond of aryl fluorides (ArF) to yield compounds [(ADC)Ga(P)] and -/-[(ADC)GaF(Ar)], respectively.
