The immune and nervous systems respond to dangerous stimuli to maintain homeostasis. In a recent issue of Nature, Florsheim et al. and Plum et al. uncover the crosstalk between immunoglobulin E (IgE)-mast-cell-mediated immune activation and neural responses driving behavioral avoidance of allergenic food.

Objectives: To explore the predictive factors for non-response to intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) in children with Kawasaki disease (KD) and to establish an IVIG non-response prediction scoring model for the Sichuan region.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted by collecting clinical data from children with KD admitted to four tertiary hospitals in Sichuan Province between 2019 and 2023. Among them, 940 children responded to IVIG, while 74 children did not respond.

In April 2024, the Adult Immunization Board convened a technical meeting to explore the latest strategies and identify exemplary approaches regarding the implementation of vaccines for adults into Europe's National Immunization Programs (NIPs). The meeting was built around three pillars: decision making for introducing a new vaccine, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The increasing number of new vaccines available in a context of competing health priorities warrants transparent and evidence-based decision-making processes for vaccine introduction.

Background: Prognostic models help aid medical decision-making. Various prognostic models are available via websites such as MDCalc, but these models typically predict one outcome, for example, stroke risk. Each model requires individual predictors, for example, age, lab results and comorbidities.

Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) is an auxin plant growth regulator (PGR) and widely used to regulate the growth process of plants. As excessive NAA enter the environment, it damages the ecological environment and endangers human life and health. Layered bimetallic hydroxides (LDHs) are widely used for the adsorption of pollutants due to their large surface area and excellent structural properties.
