Article Abstract

In a family displaying the familial atypical multiple-mole melanoma syndrome, linkage analyses were performed between HLA and an assumed dominant gene respectively determining each of the following affected phenotypes: precursor lesions; cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM); and precursor lesions or CMM or both. The results suggest that there is a complex mechanism involving several factors, genetic and environmental interacting with the gene determining precursor lesions to cause the neoplastic transformation.

Vulvar keratoacanthoma may be a malignant precursor: A case report and literature review.

Gynecol Oncol Rep

February 2025

People's Hospital of China Medical University, Department of Gynecology, People's Hospital of Liaoning Province, Shenyang, China.

Background: Keratoacanthoma is a relatively rare skin tumor, with vulvar keratoacanthoma being even more uncommon. Although the majority of keratoacanthomas exhibit a benign course, a subset of cases may show features of malignant potential, such as marginal invasion and recurrence.

Case: An 82-year-old female presented with a rapidly growing exophytic lesion on the left vulva, measuring 1.

The applications of artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning (DL) are leading to significant advances in cancer research, particularly in analysing histopathology images for prognostic and treatment-predictive insights. However, effective translation of these computational methods requires computational researchers to have at least a basic understanding of histopathology. In this work, we aim to bridge that gap by introducing essential histopathology concepts to support AI developers in their research.

Background: B7-H3 or CD276 is notably overexpressed in various malignant tumor cells in humans, with extremely high expression rates. The development of a radiotracer that targets B7-H3 may provide a universal tumor-specific imaging agent and allow the noninvasive assessment of the whole-body distribution of B7-H3-expressing lesions.

Methods: We enhanced and optimized the structure of an affibody (ABY) that targets B7-H3 to create the radiolabeled radiotracer [68Ga]Ga-B7H3-BCH, and then, we conducted both foundational experiments and clinical translational studies.

BCR::ABL1-like B-lymphoblastic leukaemia (B-ALL) neoplasms lack the BCR::ABL1 translocation but have a gene expression profile like BCR::ABL1 positive B-ALL. This includes alterations in cytokine receptors and signalling genes, such as and Cases with CRLF2 rearrangements account for approximately 50% of cases of Philadelphia-like acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (Ph-like ALL), and the frequency of specific genomic lesions varies with ethnicity such that IGH::CRLF2 translocations are more common in Hispanics and Native Americans. We report two cases of BCR::ABL1-like ALL, with significant eosinophilia.

Multicentric Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of Bilateral Eyelids.

Ophthalmic Plast Reconstr Surg

January 2025

Ophthalmic Surgeons and Consultants of Ohio, Eye Center of Columbus, Columbus, Ohio.

A 59-year-old female patient presented with a purple, fluid-filled lesion on her left upper eyelid that contained a solid component. Excisional biopsy revealed a diagnosis of mucinous adenocarcinoma. Extensive oncological workup was negative for a distant primary tumor or metastasis and confirmed a diagnosis of primary mucinous adenocarcinoma.
