Pressure-Induced Coordination Number Transition in Lanthanide Mellitate Coordination Polymers: Structure and Spectroscopy.

High external pressure is found to induce a non-coordinated water molecule to bond to cerium in a previously studied mellitate coordination polymer, as determined by high-pressure single-crystal X-ray diffraction, resulting in a coordination number transition at 3.85 GPa from 9 to 9.5 where half the cerium ions are 10-coordinate. Also, bond length changes due to increased pressure are experimentally measured, whereas the cerium-carboxylate bond lengths overall change by -0.004(9) Å/GPa, the cerium-water bonds by -0.016(3) Å/GPa, and cerium-oxygen bonds overall by -0.010(6) Å/GPa, which corresponds well with theoretical bond length decreases determined for similar compounds. The high-pressure absorbance spectra of the analogous neodymium mellitate are examined and compared with the structural changes observed.

Human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) can be differentiated in vitro to an increasing number of mature cell types, presenting significant promise for addressing a wide range of diseases and studying human development. One approach to further enhance stem cell differentiation methods would be to coordinate multiple inducible gene or protein switches to operate simultaneously within the same cell, with minimal cross-interference, to precisely regulate a network of lineage-specifying transcription factors (TFs) to guide cell fate decisions. Therefore, in this study, we designed and tested various mammalian gene and protein switches responsive to clinically safe small-molecule inhibitors of viral proteases.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of actinomycin D (ActD) as prophylactic chemotherapy (P-chem) in patients with high-risk complete hydatidiform mole (Hr-CHM) on progression to gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN).

Methods: From 1996 to 2023, 426 Hr-CHMs were selected in a cohort of 1623 patients with gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD). From 1996 to 2023, 290 patients with Hr-CHMs received a single bolus dose of Act-D at the time of uterine evacuation (Hr-CHM P-chem group); 136 with the same risk factors did not receive P-chem (Hr-CHM control group).

Generally, to address the resource management issues in high-speed railway operations, particularly in the context of large-scale networked high-speed train transportation organizations, a phased optimization approach is introduced. This approach divides the problem into two stages: the high-speed train timetabling and the planning of Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) route. The lack of direct integration between these stages has hindered the flexible and efficient utilization of line capacity and EMU resources based on large-scale network, limiting the potential for mutual compensation and coordination among different types of resources across different regions.
