Fluorescence spectrometer (FS) is widely used for component analysis because each fluorescing material has its own characteristic spectrum. However, the spectral calibration is complicated and bulky. Herein, an in-line spectral calibration sheet (ISCS) was proposed in which a narrow band-pass filter and a linear variable filter (LVF) were integrated on a metal plate. By moving the ISCS, the transmitted excitation light power (TEP) as well as fluorescence spectrum can be seamlessly scanned, and the TEP can be used for in-line spectral calibration. A compact FS apparatus based on UV-LED excitation, metal capillary (MC) and ISCS was fabricated (i.e., ISCS-FS), and the ISCS-FS apparatus was applied to detect sodium humate in water. By employing TEP calibration, both the inner filter effect () and the drift in the optical power of UV-LED can be simultaneously compensated. The linear correlation coefficient of signal concentration was improved from 0.89 to 0.998, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) of replicated detection was improved from 3 to 0.7%. A detection limit of concentration (DLC) of 1.3 μg/L was realized, which is 15-fold lower than that of a commercial FS apparatus (20 μg/L). The DLC is even comparable with that (0.5-4 μg/L) of commercial total organic carbon (TOC) analyzers, which are bulky and expensive. The linear correlation between the measurement results of ISCS-FS and commercial TOC analyzers can reach a good value of 0.94.

Rationale And Objectives: Mixed ground-glass nodules (mGGNs) are highly malignant and common nonspecific lung imaging findings. This study aimed to explore whether combining quantitative and qualitative spectral dual-layer detector-based computed tomography (SDCT)-derived parameters with serological tumor abnormal proteins (TAPs) and thymidine kinase 1 (TK1) expression enhances invasive mGGN diagnostic efficacy and to develop a joint diagnostic model.
Materials And Methods: This prospective study included patients with mGGNs undergoing preoperative triple-phase contrast-enhanced SDCT with TAP and TK1 tests.

Superior to traditional multiplex photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensors, integrated multitarget assay on a single reconstructive electrode interface is promising in real-time detection through eliminating the need of specialized instrumentation and cumbersome interfacial modifications. Current interface reconstruction approaches including pH modulation and bioenzyme cleavage involve biohazardous and time-consuming operations, which cannot meet the demand for rapid, eco-friendly, and portable detection, which are detrimental to the development of multiplex PEC sensors toward portability. Herein, we report a pioneer work on IR-driven "four-to-one" multisignal conditioning to facile reconfigure electrode interface for multitarget detection via photoelectrochemical/photothermal dual mode.

Individual ion mass spectrometry (IMS) is the Orbitrap-based extension of the niche mass spectrometry technique known as charge detection mass spectrometry (CDMS). While traditional CDMS analysis is performed on in-house-built instruments such as the electrostatic linear ion trap, IMS extends CDMS analysis to Orbitrap analyzers, allowing charge detection analysis to be available to the scientific community at large. IMS simultaneously measures the mass-to-charge ratios (m/z) and charges (z) of hundreds to thousands of individual ions within one acquisition event, creating a spectral output directly into the mass domain without the need for further spectral deconvolution.

This paper presents progress made toward the overarching goal to adapt single-photon-counting microcalorimeters to magnetic fusion energy research and demonstrate the value of such measurements for fusion. Microcalorimeter spectrometers combine the best characteristics of x-ray instrumentation currently available on fusion devices: high spectral resolution similar to an x-ray crystal spectrometer and broad spectral coverage sufficient to measure impurity species from Be to W. As a proof-of-principle experiment, a NASA-built x-ray microcalorimeter spectrometer has been installed on the Madison Symmetric Torus (MST) at the Wisconsin Plasma Physics Laboratory.

Purpose: Photon counting detectors offer promising advancements in computed tomography (CT) imaging by enabling the quantification and three-dimensional imaging of contrast agents and tissue types through simultaneous multi-energy projections from broad X-ray spectra. However, the accuracy of these decomposition methods hinges on precise composite spectral attenuation values that one must reconstruct from spectral micro-CT. Errors in such estimations could be due to effects such as beam hardening, object scatter, or detector sensor-related spectral distortions such as fluorescence.
