Background: Using natural oral supplements is one of the methods of complementary medicine that has been widely welcomed in the last decade Since studies have reported contradictory results for effectiveness of herbal medicines during menopause and no other more effective herbal medicine has been suggested yet, the researchers of this study decided to compare the fennel and Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) and their effect on menopause problems and sex hormones.

Materials And Methods: The present study was a triple-blinded, controlled clinical trial with 125 participants randomly assigned to. An intervention group received fennel, another intervention group received evening primrose oil, and the placebo group received placebo twice daily for 8 weeks. Pre-intervention and post-intervention results were obtained using hormonal assay and the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS).

Results: In this study, the mean follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and estradiol levels changed significantly in the fennel and EPO groups compared to placebo ( < 0.001). The difference in the mean FSH score between the fennel group and EPO group was not significant ( = 0.304), but the difference in the mean estradiol level between these groups was significant ( = 0.043). Moreover, there was a significant difference in the mean MRS score between the intervention groups before the intervention ( < 0.05). However, the difference in the mean MRS score between the fennel and EPO groups was not significant after the intervention ( = 0.322).

Conclusions: Consumption of fennel and EPO can significantly change FSH, estradiol, and psychological menopausal symptoms in postmenopausal women.

Objectives: Activating apoptosis and oxidative stress contributes to the pathogenesis of diabetes. Evening primrose oil (EPO) has been shown to regulate lipid profiles and hyperglycemia under metabolic conditions. This study aimed to examine the effect of EPO on miR-21 expression, oxidative stress, apoptosis, and histological changes in the pancreas of male rats with experimental diabetes induced by streptozotocin (STZ).

While invasive success of alien plant species is often attributed to their superior competitive abilities, it is also suggested that competitive ability depends on the target species of competition and resource availability. In addition, it remains unclear whether invaders and co-occurring plants in the introduced area exhibit distinctive inter- and intraspecific competitive intensities. This study aimed to evaluate the competitive ability of a successful invader, , through a combination of field surveys and a growth chamber experiment.

The natural environment has been significantly impacted by human activity, urbanization, and industrialization, leading to changes in living organisms and their adaptation to harsh conditions. Species, including plants, adapt to these changes by creating mechanisms and modifications that allow them to survive in harsh environments. Also, endophytes, microorganisms that live inside plants, can support plant growth and defense mechanisms in these conditions by synthesizing antimicrobial secondary metabolites.

Intrauterine adhesion (IUA), also referred to as Asherman's syndrome, is characterized by fibrosis, inflammation, and can cause amenorrhea and infertility due to abnormal endometrial healing. Histological and Molecular methods were used to evaluate the efficacy of EPO, which is traditionally known for its anti-inflammatory and fibrinolytic properties, in preventing the formation of IUA. Oral administration of EPO reduced the formation of adhesion bands and promoted endometrial regeneration.

Background: Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a progressive and severe respiratory disease for which there is still a lack of satisfactory treatment methods other than lung transplantation. Evening primrose (EP) is widely used in Chinese folk medicinal herbs, especially for the treatment of lung-related diseases. However, the protective effect of evening primrose against PF has yet to be reported.
