Background: Penetrating carotid artery injuries (CAI) are rare with high morbidity and mortality. We aimed to perform a systematic review of the published literature to evaluate the workup and management of penetrating CAI.
Methods: Studies of acute management of adult trauma patients with penetrating common or internal carotid artery injuries on MEDLINE or EMBASE from 1946 through July 2024 were included following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement methodology.

Cancer heterogeneity, characterized by diverse populations of tumorigenic cells, involves the occurrence of differential phenotypes with variable expressions of receptor tyrosine kinases. Aberrant expressions of mesenchymal-epithelial transition (MET) and recepteur d'origine nantais (RON) receptors contribute to the phenotypic heterogeneity of cancer cells, which poses a major therapeutic challenge. This study aims to develop a dual-targeting antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) that can act against both MET and RON for treating cancers with high phenotypic heterogeneity.

The touristification of Old Havana is resulting in unique patterns of gentrification that rely on a new spatial imaginary, the enforcement of which is resulting in the loss of places for residents to be young. The Cuban state's preservation of significant proportions of social housing as part of its investments in the heritage tourism industry is disrupting common housing-led displacement in the city. The neighbourhood's economic transition is concentrated instead in public spaces, as squares and streets are taken over by new tourist-serving businesses.

Objectives: Vascular access thrombosis (VAT) is a common complication in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), significantly impacting hemodialysis efficacy and patient survival. Currently, temporary dialysis access is typically established deep vein catheterization (VC), however, this method is highly invasive and associated with risks of infection and other complications. This study aims to explore the feasibility of using direct anastomosis indwelling needle puncture (DAINP) for temporary dialysis access.
