Breast cancer, due to its high incidence and mortality, is a public health problem worldwide. Current chemotherapy uses non-specific cytotoxic drugs, which inhibit tumor growth but cause significant adverse effects. (-)-Epicatechin (EC) is part of a large family of biomolecules called flavonoids. It is widely distributed in the plant kingdom; it can be found in green tea, grapes, and cocoa. Several studies in animals and humans have shown that EC induces beneficial effects in the skeletal muscle and the cardiovascular system, reducing risk factors such as arterial hypertension, endothelial dysfunction, damage to skeletal muscle structure, and mitochondrial malfunction by promoting mitochondrial biogenesis, with no adverse effects reported. Recently, we reported that EC had an antitumor effect in a murine triple-negative mammary gland tumor model, decreasing tumoral size and volume and increasing survival by 44%. This work aimed to characterize the effects of flavanol EC on proliferation, migration, and metastasis markers of triple-negative murine breast (4T1) cancer cells in culture. We found proliferation diminished and Bax/Bcl2 ratio increased. When the migration of culture cells was evaluated, we observed a significant reduction in migration. Also, the relative expression of the genes associated with metastasis, , , , , , and , was increased. In conclusion, these results contribute to understanding molecular mechanisms activated by EC that can inhibit metastatic-associated proliferation, migration, and invasion of murine breast cancer cells.

FBXW7 is a tumor suppressor gene that regulates metabolism and is associated with the onset and progression of colorectal cancer (CRC)), however, the precise mechanism whereby FBXW7 participates in the metabolic reprogramming of CRC remains unclear. Here, the research aims to reveal the association between the expression of FBXW7 and clinical variables and to investigate the molecular mechanism by which FBXW7 plays a critical role in the development of CRC. The clinical importance of FBXW7 in CRC was determined by immunohistochemistry.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a malignant tumour that poses a serious threat to human health and places a heavy burden on individuals and society. However, the role of GPC1 in the malignant progression of HCC is unknown. In this study, we analysed the expression of GPC1 in HCC, and its association with poor patient prognosis.

Trophoblast glycoprotein (TPBG) plays a significant part in the growth of specific cancers, yet its connection to gastric cancer (GC) remains uncertain. This research seeks to analyse the fluctuation in TPBG levels in GC and evaluate how TPBG expression relates to the prognosis of GC patients. TPBG expression in GC and normal gastric tissues was investigated in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) database, further extracting the immunohistochemistry images from HPA database and validating by Western blot.

Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul, Turkiye.

siRNA-loaded nanoparticles open new perspectives for cancer treatment. MAPK6 is upregulated in breast cancer and is involved in cell growth, differentiation and cell cycle regulation. Herein, we aimed to investigate the anticancer effects of MAPK6 knockdown by using MAPK6 siRNA-loaded PLGA nanoparticles (siMAPK6-PLGA-NPs) in MCF-7 breast cancer cells.

Background: Rosacea is a prevalent inflammatory skin condition, but its molecular mechanisms and treatment responses remain poorly understood.

Aims: This study aims to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying rosacea and explore drug response through transcriptomic analysis and in vitro experiments.

Patients/methods: We performed high-throughput RNA sequencing to analyze gene expression patterns in rosacea patients.
