Urotensin 2 (Uts2) is a biologically active peptide involved in the regulation of a variety of physiological and pathophysiological processes. In both the human and rat adrenal gland, the expressions of the Uts2 gene and its receptor (Uts2r) have been described. This paper focuses on the description of the hormonal control of the mRNA levels of urotensin II and its receptor in the adrenal gland of the rat, both in vitro and in vivo. The initial in vitro experiments were carried out on freshly isolated rat adrenocortical cells and their primary culture. The obtained results indicated a stimulating PKA-independent effect of ACTH on the mRNA level in the tested cells, with no changes in the transcript. Subsequent in vivo experiments showed that ACTH-induced adrenal growth was accompanied by an elevated level of the mRNA, with unchanged expression of . In the other types of in vivo gland growth studied, enucleation-induced adrenal regeneration and compensatory growth of the gland, the mRNA levels of the studied genes showed no significant differences. The only exception was hemiadrenalectomy, which led to a significant increase in mRNA expression level 24 h after surgery. In 12-week-old rats of both sexes, gonadectomy led to a significant increase in the level of mRNA in the adrenal gland, an effect that was prevented by sex hormones' replacement. No changes in transcript levels were observed under these conditions. Thus, this study suggests that the regulation of and mRNA levels differs significantly in the rat adrenal gland. While transcript levels appear to be mainly dependent on ACTH action, mRNA levels are not under the control of this hormone.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between the expression levels of serum forkhead box protein M1(FOXM1) and insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) mRNA in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) condition and prognosis.
Methods: Ninety patients with ARDS admitted to our hospital were regarded as the ARDS group, according to the prognosis, they were grouped into death group ( = 64) and survival group ( = 126); the control group consisted of 190 healthy individuals.
Results: Compared with the control group, the level of serum FOXM1 mRNA in ARDS group was obviously lower, and the level of IGF2 mRNA was higher.

Meat rabbits are a small herbivorous livestock and have been popularly raised in China for producing high-quality meat. Therefore, it is economically important to genetically improve both carcass performance and meat quality in meat rabbits. However, we still know less about the underlying candidate genes that may determine phenotypic variation on carcass and meat traits of meat rabbits.

This study attempted to identify the relevant pathways involved in autophagy activation of pancreatic cancer and explore the mechanisms underlying immune evasion. Western blot (WB) was used to detect the expression of ITGB4, BNIP3, autophagy-related proteins and MHC-I. Co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) was used to verify the binding mode of ITGB4 and BNIP3.

Objective: DNA methylation, as an epigenetic alteration, plays an essential role in the development of atherosclerosis and venous thrombosis. E-cadherin, a tumor suppressor gene and adhesion molecule, has a crucial function in platelet aggregation and hemostasis. P16, a cell cycle regulator, is involved in venous thrombosis.
