The aim of this study was to analyse the short- and medium-term complications of the Motec total wrist arthroplasty (TWA). Identifying exact modes of failure and their causes should allow surgeons to avoid or mitigate these risks in the future. Retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data from six hand surgeons at five international centres provided details of 171 Motec TWAs. The mean follow-up was 5.8 years (range 18 months to 12 years). There were 33 (19%) complications within our cohort, with a revision rate of 8.2% (14 revisions). There was no difference in complication rates between metal-on-metal and metal-on-polymer articulations. Failure of osseointegration was the most common complication. Problems with soft tissue balancing, implant impingement related osteolysis, bony impingement and metacarpal fracture were found to be other preventable causes of failure in this series. Elimination of these preventable complications will improve survival rates for this implant. IV.

Stoma reversal surgery is known for relatively high complication rates. While Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols are extensively validated for colorectal surgery, their use in stoma reversal remains underexplored. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluates clinical outcomes of stoma reversal surgery under ERAS protocols compared to standard care (SC) practices.

Background: Anterolateral ligament reconstruction (ALLR) or lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) has been used more frequently in conjunction with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) in recent years. However, there are still concerns that these procedures may lead to complications such as overconstraint of the lateral compartment, stiffness, infections, tunnel convergence, and other intra- and postoperative complications because of increased surgical time and the need for additional procedures.
Hypothesis/purpose: The lateral extra-articular procedure will reduce the failure rate of reconstructed ACLs without increasing the number of complications.

The long-term impact of postoperative morbidity following laparoscopic liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma is unclear. This study aimed to investigate whether the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma patients were affected by postoperative morbidity after laparoscopic liver resection. Hepatocellular carcinoma patients who underwent curative-intent laparoscopic liver resection were included.
