Herein, we disclosed a sustainable electrochemical approach for site-selective C-H mono and bis-chalcogenation (sulfenylation or selenylation) of indolizine frameworks. Diversely functionalized disulfides and diselenides possessing EDGs and EWGs were successfully reacted with a variety of indolizines to directly access sulfenylated/selenylated indolizines in 40-96% yields. A mechanistic radical pathway was also validated with control experiments and cyclic voltammogram data.

A highly practical and efficient Cp*Co(III)-catalyzed C-H alkylation/alkenylation reaction of anilides with maleimides and acrylates was developed, during which a weakly coordinating amide carbonyl group functioned as the directing group. This approach features high efficiency, good functional group tolerance, and broad substrate scope, and a variety of 3-substituted succinimides and -alkenylated anilides were synthesized in moderate to excellent yields. Furthermore, the reaction is highly selective, affording mono--alkylated/alkenylated products only.

The direct transformation of methane into C oxygenates such as acetic acid selectively using molecular oxygen (O) is a significant challenge due to the chemical inertness of methane, the difficulty of methane C-H bond activation/C-C bond coupling and the thermodynamically favored over-oxidation. In this study, we have successfully developed a porous aluminium metal-organic framework (MOF)-supported single-site mono-copper(ii) hydroxyl catalyst [MIL-53(Al)-Cu(OH)], which is efficient in directly oxidizing methane to acetic acid in water at 175 °C with a remarkable selectivity using only O. This heterogeneous catalyst achieved an exceptional acetic acid productivity of 11 796 mmol mol h in 9.

Article Synopsis
  • A new method for the oxidative C-H alkenylation of benzoic acid using [Ru(η-CH)Cl] catalyst has been developed, operating efficiently in water at mild temperatures (60 °C).
  • The reaction shows regioselectivity, producing mono-olefinated products when using activated alkenes like acrylates, while both mono and diolefinated products emerge from unactivated alkenes such as styrene.
  • A novel five-membered cyclic compound was formed from vinylferrocene as a coupling partner, indicating a unique reactivity profile compared to other alkenes.

A major driver for the recent investment surge in bispecific antibody (bsAb) platforms and products is the multitude of distinct mechanisms of action that bsAbs offer compared to a combination of two monoclonal antibodies. Four bsAb products were granted first regulatory approvals in the US or EU during 2023 and the biopharmaceutical industry pipeline is brimming with bsAb candidates across a broad range of therapeutic applications. In previously reported bsAb discovery campaigns, following a hypothesis-based choice of two specific target proteins, selections and screening activities have often been performed in mono-specific formats.

The condensing reaction of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde with quinoxalyl-2-carbohydrazide resulted in synthesizing of a novel derivative of hydrazone quinoxalyl ligand (Hdpq). The bonding behavior between Hdpq and Co(II) ion was investigated in molar ratios of 1: 1 and 2: 1 to produce two different complexes, Codpq and Co(dpq), respectively. Their chemical structure was verified using several spectroscopic approaches.
