TanshinoneⅡA (TanⅡA) is a noteworthy lipophilic diterpene compound derived from the dried roots of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Danshen () that has various pharmacological properties, including anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidative effects. Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction induced by a dysregulated host response to infection. Recently, increasing attention has been paid to sepsis-induced dysfunction of the intestine, car-diovascular system, lungs, kidneys, liver, and other organs. Experimental studies have shown that TanⅡA has therapeutic potential for sepsis-induced organ dysfunction owing to its anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic and regulatory effects on multiple signalling pathways. The purpose of this article is to evaluate the potential multiorgan protective effects of TanⅡA in sepsis.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in solid organ transplant (SOT) and hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) recipients may increase the risk of rejection or allograft dysfunction, other infection(s), and morbidity and mortality. Treatment can be challenging due to medication-associated toxicities. Maribavir (MBV) is a promising option for the treatment of resistant or refractory (R/R) CMV infection in lieu of foscarnet (FOS), which has long been the recommended therapy for (val)ganciclovir-resistant infection.

Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is an autoimmune disease characterized by the infiltration of lymphocytes on salivary and lacrimal glands, resulting in their dysfunction. Patients suffering from severe pSS have an increased risk of developing multi-organ dysfunction syndrome due to the development of systemic inflammatory response, which results in immune cell-driven injury of the lungs, kidneys, liver, and brain. Therapeutic agents that are used for the treatment of severe pSS encounter various limitations and challenges that can impact their effectiveness.

Sepsis is a life-threatening complication caused by an uncontrolled immune response to infection that can lead to multi-organ dysfunction, including liver injury. Recent research has shown the critical role of gut microbiota in sepsis pathogenesis, with the gut-liver axis playing a crucial role in disease progression. Mechanisms such as the disruption of the gut barrier and liver injury pathways mediated by cytokines, chemokines, adhesion molecules, hydrogen sulfide (HS).

Hypertension exerts a profound impact on the microcirculation, causing both structural and functional alterations that contribute to systemic and organ-specific vascular damage. The microcirculation, comprising arterioles, capillaries, and venules with diameters smaller than 20 μm, plays a fundamental role in oxygen delivery, nutrient exchange, and maintaining tissue homeostasis. In the context of hypertension, microvascular remodeling and rarefaction result in reduced vessel density and elasticity, increasing vascular resistance and driving end-organ damage.
