Conjugation of ATG8 to single membranes (CASM) is a fundamental cellular process that entails the conjugation of mammalian Atg8 homologs, here referred to as ATG8, to phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) and phosphatidylserine (PS) on endolysosomal compartments. Our current research, together with recent reports from the Randow, Wu, and Wileman labs, has uncovered yet another layer to this process. We discovered that, in addition to ATG16L1-containing complexes, TECPR1 (tectonin beta-propeller repeat containing 1)-containing ATG12-ATG5 E3 complexes can facilitate CASM, thereby providing a broader understanding of this pathway.

FP-YOLOv8: Surface Defect Detection Algorithm for Brake Pipe Ends Based on Improved YOLOv8n.

Sensors (Basel)

December 2024

School of Mechanical and Power Engineering, Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou 450000, China.

To address the limitations of existing deep learning-based algorithms in detecting surface defects on brake pipe ends, a novel lightweight detection algorithm, FP-YOLOv8, is proposed. This algorithm is developed based on the YOLOv8n framework with the aim of improving accuracy and model lightweight design. First, the C2f_GhostV2 module has been designed to replace the original C2f module.

Indigenous chickens are an important Farm Animal Genetic Resource (FAnGR) in South Africa as they alleviate poverty and are a source of protein. Climate change and market demand for high-performing exotic breeds threaten and undermine locally adapted village chickens. The current study explored the risk status and signatures of adaptation of village-based indigenous chickens from two provinces and mapped their environmental suitability across the country.

This study follows up on previous research conducted by Litavec (J Forensic Sci., 68, 2023, 1780) on sorting commingled sacroiliac joints using deviation analysis. In the present report, the results of this technique are expanded to separating commingled first tarsometatarsal and atlantoaxial joints.

Background: Charcoal Rot (CR) poses a significant threat to mung bean crops by reducing yield, making the development of resistant varieties crucial for stable production and food security. This study evaluated 19 newly identified mung bean landraces using biochemical traits and SSR markers, revealing genetic variability, CR disease reactions, and traits influencing yield and resistance, which provide valuable insights for breeding CR-resistant, high-yielding varieties.

Methods And Results: Mung bean landraces were evaluated for their response to CR using 4 biochemical parameters, and 10 SSR markers to assess genetic variability and disease resistance.
