Schizophrenia is a chronic, neurodevelopmental disorder with unknown aetiology and pathophysiology that emphasises the role of neurotransmitter imbalance and abnormalities in synaptic plasticity. The currently used pharmacological approach, the antipsychotic drugs, which have limited efficacy and an array of side-effects, have been developed based on the neurotransmitter hypothesis. Recent research has uncovered systemic and brain abnormalities in glucose and energy metabolism, focusing on altered glycolysis and mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), an RNA virus spread by droplet infection that affects all ages, is increasingly recognised as an important pathogen in adults, especially among older people living with comorbidities. Distinguishing RSV from other acute viral infections on clinical grounds alone, with sufficient precision to be clinically useful, is not possible. The reference standard diagnosis is by PCR: point-of-care tests perform less well with lower viral loads.

There is an inherent tension between the nursing profession's empathetic, human-centric ethos and the impersonal nature of digital technology. However, digital solutions such as robot carers could offer convenience, dignity and reduced feelings of burden, so there is potentially a significant misalignment between nursing concepts of care and contemporary patient needs. The notion of 'care' should be reconceptualised to include digital advancements, aligning practice with changing patient expectations and technological progress.

Introduction: Many Covid-19 survivors are living with unresolved, relapsing and remitting symptoms and no 'one size' of treatment is likely to be effective for everyone. Supported self-management for the varied symptoms of Long Covid (LC) is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence in the United Kingdom. We aimed to develop a new personalised support intervention for people living with LC using a structured co-design framework to guide replication and evaluation.
