is one of the main rainfed crops of aromatic and medicinal plants produced in Spain. As a global concern, the agronomic productivity of this aromatic crop is also threatened by the consequences of imminent climate change. On this basis, the study of the agronomic production of two drought-tolerant ecotypes, after three years of cultivations practices, constitutes the main objective of the present study. For this trial, clones of the two pre-selected ecotypes, along with clones from two commercial plants (control), were grown in an experimental plot. The main results confirmed an increase in biomass and essential oil production with plant age. The essential oil chemotype defined by 1,8-cineol, linalool, and camphor was maintained over time, but a decrease in 1,8-cineol in the benefit of linalool was detected. In the phenolic profile, 14 components were identified, with salvianic acid and a rosmarinic acid derivate being the main compounds quantified. These phenolic extracts showed potent in vitro antioxidant capacity, and after the second year of cultivation practices, both phenolic compounds and antioxidant capacity remained stable. Thus, under semiarid conditions, drought-tolerant ecotypes reach a good level of production after the second year of crop establishment.

Enhancing the understanding of the rainfall-runoff temporal dynamics in semi-arid and semi-humid regions is crucial for flood disaster mitigation. Loess Plateau is a unique environment within semi-arid and semi-humid regions, characterized by its deep loess soil, prevalent short-duration intense rainfall, and changes in underlying surface conditions. In this research, 25 catchments from the Loess Plateau were chosen to examine the temporal variations in event runoff responses across different time scales.

Soil salinization poses a significant challenge to global agriculture, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions like Xinjiang. , a halophytic plant adapted to saline-alkaline conditions, harbors endophytic microorganisms with potential plant growth-promoting properties. In this study, 177 endophytic bacterial strains were isolated from , and 11 key strains were identified through functional screening based on salt tolerance, nutrient solubilization, and growth-promoting traits.

Drought stress during the plant's growing season is a serious constraint to plant establishment in arid and semiarid Mediterranean ecosystems. Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) as environmentally friendly and innovative management approach can be used to produce seedlings better adapted to these environments. We tested native PGPR strains isolated from drought-tolerant tree and shrub species originating from two climatically contrasting regions: hot-dry (Dehloran) and milder Mediterranean climate (Ilam).

As a primary abiotic constraint for bean cultivation in semi-arid regions, drought stress significantly impacts both the yield and quality of beans. Foliar application of nanofertilizer has been shown to effectively improve crop yield and nutritional quality while mitigating environmental pollution associated with fertilizer runoff. In this study, we conducted a semi-field study using magnetite nanoparticles (FeONPs) to evaluate its effects on the growth, yield, nutrient quality, photosynthetic parameters, and physiological traits in kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.

Peanut is a vital source of protein, particularly in the tropical regions of Asian and African countries. About three-quarters of peanut production occurs worldwide in arid and semi-arid regions, making drought an important concern in peanut production. In the US about two-thirds of peanuts are grown in non-irrigated lands, where drought accounts for 50 million USD loss each year.
