The effect of optical stimulation at a frequency of 10 Hz (OS) on temporal parameters of sensorimotor activity in healthy subjects (n=32) was studied. The expression of the activation response was determined by the ratio of spectral power values (SPα2, μV) of the high frequency (10-13 Hz) subrange of the α-rhythm of the initial EEG with closed and opened eyes and the frequency of the maximum α-peak (IAPF). A test for simple motor reaction time was performed under normal and OS conditions.

Insulin resistance is a condition characterized by the attenuated biological response in the presence of normal or elevated insulin level and therefore is characterized by the impaired sensitivity to insulin and impaired glucose disposal and utilization. Insulin resistance in brain/Brain insulin resistance (BIR) is accompanied by the various manifestations including alteration in glucose sensing by hypothalamic neurons, impaired sympathetic outflow in response to hypoglycemia, increased ROS production, impaired mitochondrial oxygen consumption in the brain, cognitive deficits and neuronal cell damage. It has been reported that the disrupted insulin signaling is accompanied by the reduced expression of insulin receptor (IR)/insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1)/PI3K/AKT and IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R)/IRS2/PI3K pathways.

Huntington's disease (HD) is caused by a CAG repeat expansion in the HTT gene, leading to altered gene expression. However, the mechanisms leading to disrupted RNA processing in HD remain unclear. Here we identify TDP-43 and the N6-methyladenosine (m6A) writer protein METTL3 to be upstream regulators of exon skipping in multiple HD systems.

Neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis type 2 (CLN2) is a rapidly progressive neurodegenerative disorder leading to premature mortality. Ambulatory CLN2 patients typically receive standard of care treatment through biweekly intracerebroventricular (ICV) enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) involving recombinant human tripeptidyl peptidase 1, known as cerliponase alfa (Brineura, Biomarin Pharmaceuticals). This study longitudinally assessed the impact of ICV cerliponase alfa ERT on gait, and postural control across a two-year span in two siblings diagnosed with atypical CLN2 disease.
